Soror Epps,
Larry was a father to me when I needed a dad. To learn of his passing was learning of a piece of me being what at first appeared to be a piece of me being gone. I realize that Larry will always be with me because he, through God, helped me to become the person that I am today. Tears filled my eyes because I never had the opportunity to say goodbye. Being so far away has hurt and helped me during this time. I thank you for sharing Larry with others. He invested himself and all that he had to help someone else. He invested time and resources into me as a very young child. He provided guidance and mentorship to me as I matured into young adulthood. He helped me to reach and discover heights that I may not have otherwise known. God blessed Larry and you to bless me. My prayers are with you and your family. My thoughts are with you. Words could never express my thanks. Just a child sitting on the pews of the church, attending Sunday School with a mom who gave the best that she knew and could, Larry saw much more than that in me and, through God, helped me to enter into doors physically and spiritually beyond the gates of my immediate and local surroundings. I look at myself in the mirror and I can't help but give thanks for Larry. I look at my husband and I can't help but give thanks to God for Larry. I look at my two young children and I can't help but give thanks to God for Larry. I look at all that I have done and accomplished educationally and professionally, and I realize that I will always be grateful for God blessing me with Larry. As I preach, teach, mentor, love, share, discover, live, and breathe I will always be reminded of the treasure God gave me and us all in the life and spirit of Larry Epps. A dad...a mentor...a teacher...a spiritual leader...a friend...Soror Epps, I love you and I thank you..you helped Larry to give, share, and love as he has with me and so many others.

to mrs.epps and family
i have known larry for many years. he has seen my kids along with my sister's kids grow up at springfield. my last time seeing larry was on easter day of this year, and i kissed him and hugged him and told him that god loves him. he smiled and said god loves you too. i will always remember his warm smile on that day. having gone through losing my mother and two brothers all within a 4yr. period, my heart goes out to you and your family. the going may be rough and the going may be hard for you right now, but know that god never ever make a mistake. larry is in a better place now, and he is preaching and teaching to all that will hear. may god embrace you and keep you strong in your time of need.

Barbara, greater was thou faithfulness through Larry's illness. I am positive God is quite pleased with you in all of your works.
From 4th Ward (Howard High) to Clark College, onward to Geogia State; if you knew Larry, you LOVED Larry. Larry's moto had to be "IF I COULD HELP SOMEBODY". Without question that moto was a staple in Larry's life.
I think one of the greatest days in Larry's life was when he met and married you (Barbara). I can still hear the bells ringing in South Carolina on that great day when "yall" closed down Candler Road and sections of Decatur. Many of the doves are still flying over Georgia.
Barbara, Larry would have caught the typo of though (thou) im my earlier message. I am sure Epps is smiling and saying "that Foote".

Our hearts go out to you, Barbara, and the Epps family. We loved Larry for the good person that he was. As sunday school teachers, we remember Larry as a compassionate and caring leader who got the job done. He really loved the Sunday School. We all laugh at how we would try to hide whenever we saw Larry at church because we knew he was going to assign us some task. But he found us anyway, and got us to do just about any task with his "you can do it" pep talk. We already miss him so much. And he will always be in our thoughts. We only hope that it be of comfort to you to know that he is at peace now and is in heaven assigning tasks to the angels. May God bless and comfort you and your family through this time.
