Family-Placed Death Notice
JONES, Luann Mrs. Luann Bailey Jones, age 57, of Norcross, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School and Georgia State University. She worked for many years as a NICU nurse, and then spent the latter part of her life caring for her family. She is survived by her husband, Ed Jones; daughters, Anna Jones Simpson and her husband Tommy, Abigail Jones Knoll and her husband Mike; granddaughters, Emma Jean Simpson, Rosie Simpson; aunts, Marguerete Brooks, June Marlow; uncle, Billy Mitchell and his wife Nell; cousins, Milton & Patti Shiver, Al and Sharon Brooks, Wes and Darlene Mitchell, Mandy and Russell Childers, Harriet Bailey Moore, Alice Stephens; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 18th at 11:00 A. M. at Mt. Carmel Christian Church with Rev. Mitchell Shiver officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northridge Christian Church, Hardwick, GA or to Jack Ballard Church Builders, c/o Dale Sikes. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons.

Ed and Girls, I am so sorry for your loss. Luann was so much fun to be around. We had many fun filled nights at the games and weeks at Band Camp (all of our pranks on Mr P). Please know I would have been at her service but I was in Illinois when I found out nursing my Sister. Should you need anything I am here.

Dearest Ed, Anna, Abby and family.
I am profoundly saddened by the loss of Luann. She was such a dear friend and along with all of you we shared so many wonderful times. It has been my honor to have been included as a family friend and for that I am forever grateful. Please know that I am always with you as Luann holds a special place in my heart. The laughter that we shared is what is carrying me through these difficult days.
My thoughts and prayers are with now and always.

Dear Anna & Tommy:
Please accept my heart-felt sympathy for your Mom's sudden death. Though we met only a few times, I will always remember her as a caring and delightful person to be around. At the occasions we met we always seemed to run into each other around the food tables, which resulted in lots of laughter and plans for a new diet plan!
Mentally bathe yourself in light of her beautiful spirit every time you think of her, and you will find her warmth, love, and the sound of her laughter remains with and within you forever.

A great friend,wonderful letter writer with genuine manners and southern charm.When she called to discuss football her comments were incisive and right on.I believe in the possibility of a middle eastern peace because a Dawg and a Gator could talk with civility and eventually love.I'll miss her immensely but am comforted by the closeness of Ed and her girls.My thoughts are with all the family.

It was so clear at the visitation tonight how many lives she touched. I will always remember her kind heart and her fun-loving personality...there is much to be said about a woman who will be the life of her daughter's bachelorette party!

Luann blessed so many people around her with her wonderful personality and her infectious laugh and smile. She was a dear friend to me in my time in the Norcross High band as she made every moment brighter. I miss her jokes, her wit and wisdom, her truth, but I miss her caring heart most of all. We will all grieve in the loss of a very special person.

We were so shocked and saddened to hear about the loss of Luann. As a 1995 graduate of the NHS band, and continued friend, I remember Mrs. Jones at all band events. Your thoughfulness and humor will be missed. To the entire Jones family, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Our daughter's Anne and Jennifer Paton went to Norcross High(class of 95). Luann and I became Flag bag Mom's for the NHS Band and Color Guard, We spent many many night's at games and practices together and had an wonderful time,during good weather, rain, wind, or very cold events. How lucky I was to have known Lulu since high school. Lulu, Patti, Chewie, Pam and I all had some great times back in our Southwest Dekalb days. She was such a kind and loving person. So sad that we have lost her this soon, but I'm sure she's happy to be reunited with her Mom and Dad and other family in heaven.

Luann was such a joy to be around and a very good friend to Bill and me while he was at Norcross and all during the 10 years since he retired. We know that this is a terrible loss to her entire family and many friends. It is so hard to believe - I keep hoping I will wake up from this nightmare. Our prayers are with the family that each one of you will find comfort and strength in the many beautiful memories of Luann.
