Family-Placed Death Notice
KIRKLAND, Lucy Lucy Kirkland, 89, passed away suddenly on February 28, 2008. Lucy was born December 18, 1918 in Abbeville, Alabama and was a graduate of Middle Georgia College and Simmons College. For the next 50 years, Lucy would reside in Warner Robins, Georgia and serve as a Civil Service Officer at Robins AFB. During that time, she was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. After her retirement, Lucy moved to Northlake Gardens and joined her extended family in Atlanta. She is survived by her brother, Bill Kirkland of St. Augustine, FLA; sister, Martha Jean and John Wallis of Lakeland, FLA; extended family, Jesse Kirkland, Edward Kirkland, Dr. Robert Kirkland and Rebecca Lee, all of Atlanta; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday. For those who wish to make contributions, please send to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 300 South Davis Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088. My deepest sympathy to all the relatives of Lucy. She was a dear very special lady. I have many fond memories of Lucy as do many others -mostly old timers - of Sacred Heart Church. I know she has a special place in Heaven.
