MacKINNON, III, Luther Dateline: Glenville, NC Luther Gillis MacKinnon, III, 76, Glenville, NC died Sunday, June 16, 2013. Born Greenville, AL, son of Luther Gillis and Eleanor Lee Norris MacKinnon, he was an architect AIA. Survived by his wife Brooke Hamilton MacKinnon; children: Mary Katherine MacKinnon, Chico, CA; Virginia Lee MacKinnon, Ft.Collins, CO; Luther Gillis MacKinnon, IV, Ft. Collins, CO and William Hunter Cressall, Birmingham, AL; brother, Norris MacKinnon, Richmond, KY and five grandchildren. The memorial service is Thursday, July 11, 2013, 2:00pm, Church of the Good Shepherd, Cashiers, NC; Reverends Virginia Monroe and Toby Summerour officiating. Reception following service, Hines Hall. Donations to L. Gillis MacKinnon Memorial, Cashiers Historical Society, Cashiers 28717. Bryant Grant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Brooke and family: As you know, Brooke, Sam and I adored our friend, Gillis. What a generous, loving, talented man! Gillis gave so much to this community that he will be remembered with fondness and reverence for a very, very long time. We know he is still with you in spirit.
