I forgot to say Happy Birthday. Your birth was a gift to us all. Before you died you told me this had become your favorite song. Evanescence - My Immortal. And now, knowing you have departed, the song became even more poignant. In the months after you were gone, I listened to it over a hundred times. I would weep. Then, talk to you as if you were still here. You were so deep. Felt things so intensely others could not measure how bottomless you ran.
They saw you as pensive and creative. I used to look at all you felt and wonder how Jesus could deal with all the suffering of the world and still do his ministry. And you were like our great example ~ Christ. You would cry at the cruelty of humanity and have to take a minute and refocus on the greatness of God. You would look up because to look laterally it would be fighting, crime, pain and illness. When you looked up somehow the Lord would rise you up so you could see from his heavenly vantage point. The light blue sky would comfort you. And that is why Israel chose that color for their flag. To remind them to keep looking up. The earthly struggles are endless but God is our answer in all things. And now you sit with him.
My dog Cinders died and as she was going I told her to look for you as I know how much you loved her. Then, Ozzy died. He is the one you said reminded you of yourself as he was a good size dog and he would let the little girls take his treat right out of his mouth and do without. They had such a connection with you, I ask that you let them in your apartment until I get there.
Sometimes, I wonder what you do with your days up there. Whatever you are involved with I know it is joyous. I am grateful to know you are happy and loved. But down here we miss you. Happy Birthday and I am singing this to you right now:
Dani and Lizzy - Dancing in the sky... Miss you. Until we meet again.... Your friend and sister in Christ.

I continue to celebrate your life and grieve your passing... Till we meet again....
What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now forever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind...

I was truly blessed at Sunday Service this morning - you had just buried a wonderful Son, then you rose up and sang and prayed/praised and healed and ministered the Word of God - you gave God the glory and it was a wonderful example of how you live your lives - by Faith - from the time I first met you to now - Still you Rise!!! Blessings and peace and rest to your family. Rest Marcus, knowing that those you left behind will keep moving forward in God's Name, and keep singing Marcus - the Angels have joined you in Song. To the Tuff family- I am so sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of Marcus from school. I had the pleasure of singing in chorus with him for a few years, and he was such a bright light on this world. He was literally always smiling and singing, and God blessed him with a voice that stopped all of us in our tracks. I'll never forget his performance of "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" at one of our Christmas concerts- His voice and smile radiated with Grace. Keeping your family in my prayers.

To the Tuff family. You have my (our) deepest sympathy on the loss of your love one, Marcus Tuff. This fine young man came into my family's life somewhere in the late 90's. As a vocal artist, he worked with my music producer son. Marcus was such a pleasant person filled with good spirit, joy and so well mannered. We all simply loved him. An extremely talented person with a 'Golden Voice', you knew he was Godly. Marcus, you will always be in our hearts.

I am grateful to have had Marcus as a cousin and a dear friend; I miss him greatly. Marcus never hesitated to lend his hand in any arena and would support any decision that I was involved in. I am going to miss my random text messages of him saying "Hi L, just checking on you". Many people are aren't aware that in 2009 Marcus choreograph a dance for a dance crew that I represented and the routine that he taught them landed them a spot on MTV's America Best Dance Crew. I appreciate and will miss his laugh, positive spirit and the time we spent together!

Marcus was a loving, caring, handsome, and courageous young man. As a teenager and an adult Marcus would always greet me with that loving and joyous smile. He would compliment me and say “Ms Dean you got it going on”. As I wrote this I could see and hear Marcus say those words to me with that big smile and laughter. I am thankful to God for allowing me to know one of his precious gifts: Marcus Ryan Tuff. May the Grace, Mercy, and Peace of God continue to be with Apostle and Pastor Tuff and their family.

Words can not express the loss we all feel with you gone. You mean the world to me. I will miss your smile, your long hugs, your kindness, your understanding nature, your voice, your procrastination & most of all your heart. You had so much love to give & gave it freely without conditions or expectations. You are my best friend, you are my brother & nothing will ever change that. Know that you will live on forever in my heart & the hearts of my children. Our lives will not be the same without the light you brought to it & I will try to live my life through your example. Instead of mourning the loss of you I will do my best to celebrate all the good times, late nights, long talks, laughs & inside jokes. I love you so much & will always miss you. My heart goes out to the Tuff Family. It's amazing how God shows life in such a plain view and we always ask why God did you have to take such a beautiful person. We should just say thank you God for taking care of a great man. We are put in this world to die, it's what you do in between that time that matters. Marcus is gone home to glory and will never have to worry about worldly things again. We can't be selfish and be all upset that he has achieved the ultimate gold. We should be saying you are so lucky that you lived such a great life.

I met Marcus in the early 90's. A good friend of mine thought that he would be a good match for me! He was -Marcus was the funniest man (boy in those days) that I knew. I remember him shouting and dancing all over the floors of his fathers church. I remember calling him on the phone sometimes just so he could sing me a song. ( whatever he wanted). I was shocked to hear the news of his passing.

I am having an American help me to write this as English is my second language.
I run a restaurant and it has had its struggles since the economy has been injured. I also have battled cancer and the Lord has taken me to victory. When many people come to my place, to eat & tell me of their problems, I tell them of Jesus who loves them and all that he has done for me.
Marcus came in with a friend of his who is a regular customer. We immediately recognized each other, as family, by the revealing of the spirit of the Lord. We were instantly comfortable with each other. Marcus found out that my place of business was fighting for survival. He came back to see me, when it was not busy and asked me to sit with him. He let me tell him of my victory in Christ and was genuinely interested in me and in my story.
Then, he spoke of the food I made by hand as the best he ever had. We spoke like dear friends for a long while. Then, he said he wanted to pray for me. He reached across the table, took my hand, and prayed a beautiful prayer from his heart scripted by the Lord. He prayed for my continued healing and for my business. But his words were like a song spoken on the backs of doves and carried to heaven by this love that was so present. He was a true example of Christianity. Marcus saw the fight I had, to keep going, and this stranger, yet family member, prayed for my dreams to grow and flourish despite any set backs.
My God has continued to keep his hand upon me and I praise God for his love. Marcus, you were a blessing every place your foot stepped, because where you were; the presence of the Lord was with you. See you in heaven and thank you.

To The Tuff Family,
May tender memories soften your grief,
May fond recollection bring you relief,
And may you find comfort and peace in the thought
Of the joy that knowing your loved one brought…
For time and space can never divide
Or keep your loved one from your side
When memory paints in colors true
The happy hours that belonged to you.
Marcus will live on in our hearts and he will be missed by all who knew him.

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help at this time.
Marcus sent me this photo of himself and I believe it best shows his glowing love and bright smile.

What an amazing angel God has just received in Marcus. He was my dear, sweet 'Markie' & our family loves him dearly. His smile & laughter lit up every room he entered. His voice reached every soul. His generous, loving, positive spirit was an inspiration to all of his friends who loved him. Markie we will miss you more than words can express. We thank God that we were so blessed to have you for a while and now it's your time to be with God until we rejoice with you in Heaven. Our love and prayers for this family will be strong and everlasting. Marcus brought joy and love to us and we will always remember him with a smile. Love and prayers, Susan and Lacie

Marcus entered my life about 9 years ago. He had an infectious smile, which could chase the clouds away. He was funny, intelligent, classy, sassy, humble and "real". We would have lunch and people could see "the love of God" in him. Strangers would stop and tell him that he glowed and they could SEE God's love in his face. And one COULD see it, as he visibly shined.
He prayed anywhere, anytime and for anyone, who needed prayer. At a restaurant having appetizers, a guy shared some personal needs; Marcus bowed his head and prayed with him right on the spot.
To a group, not a Christian group, of kids about to go into a social gathering he said, “Before we go in lets pray to have a good wholesome time and that God watch over us.” Not only that example, additionally, he would start speaking of a “God who loved people” and before long and randomly, a group of people, whom religion had hurt, would gather around and listen to him speak of a loving God who was not religious or judgmental but who loved him.
Marcus lived "love" and there is no better way to teach people the Bible then to have them see; "love in action." To many, God had become a buzzword, i.e., the popular OMG! To Marcus, God was his all in all.
In Florida, he was buying groceries and he thought he had more money in his account than he did. He stepped out of line to call the bank and then return to let the cashier know he had to put the groceries back as he did not have what he thought he had in the account. With that the cashier said, “They have been paid for by the woman behind you!” He caught up with the woman and thanked her and asked how he may send her the money to cover her generous gift to a stranger. She told him, “ You have the anointing of the Lord on you and it is so strong I nearly fell-out behind you in line. I can see the love of Jesus in your face and it was a blessing for me to be able to do this for you, God loves you!”
Another time, when we had lunch in “Sweet Tomatoes,” there was a heavy woman and her son in the booth next to us. When they finished, they left their trays, and got up and left the building. All of a sudden, and we confirmed this later with one another, there was a man sitting there. He stared at Marcus, without Marcus giving a word of information, the man said, “You are a Christian aren't you? (Marcus nodded) I can see the glow of his love in your face. And you are into music? (Marcus nodded) God loves that you want to carry forth your music in positive messages to the youth. There is such an anointing on you, keep shining.” Marcus and I then caught each others eye as the man said, “I have got to get out to my family…” And when we again looked he was not there. We both believed it was an angel.
Then, there was the time in Florida he had some boys who were showing up where he was and hassling him. One day, in a restaurant, the boys showed up calling Marcus names across the floor. Then, one went to him and spit on him. Marcus called crying but he said, “I teared-up at the restaurant, not because I was frightened as I could have taken them both on. But I was so angry and wanted to do the “right” thing and all of the emotion came out in tears as I restrained myself and prayed through the anger. I saw it was a set up and if I jumped up and hit them, the story in the Newspaper would have read, “Man assaults two in restaurant for no good reason,” so, I prayed and I put on my Jesus brain.”
He then, filed a complaint against them at the police station. But he agonized over WHY people treated him so poorly. A day or so later, he went to pick up some take-out food and an old man and woman were leaving and Marcus smiled brightly and held the door for them and offered help, as Marcus was entering the facility. When he exited the old man was sitting on the bench. And asked to speak with Marcus as he had a message. Marcus knew many people “had messages” but he knew to use discernment. The old man spoke to him, “Son, God loves you. The reason people think you are weird or call you a weirdo and such is because they see the love of God manifested in you and they do not recognize what it is. So, they mock you. They insult you as they insulted Jesus. God loves you….” The old man continued with some supplementary words, then, picked up his cane and headed to the parking lot.
Once, I called him and he returned the call several hours later.
I asked, "What ya been doing?"
He said, "Well, Jesus is always giving out his "Jesus love" to everyone, I thought I'd give him a little Marcus love. So, I was praying and thanking him in personal prayer and worship! I did not realize 2 hours had gone by..."
Obviously, Marcus had a close personal relationship with God. He was very grateful for the foundation of faith his parents laid for him. He told me all the time, “People do not own churches; they own buildings.” The temple of the Lord is not a building made with hands but the Lord has made his temple in me and in you. I want people to know the love of God is not as restricted as mankind tries to convince them it is. God is Love. And God loves us as he finds us. He will work with us to get out of the muck and the mire but his love does not stop when we fall in once in a while either. After you get to know the Lord in a personal relationship, then one may want to find a place to worship corporately with like-minded believers. For instance, my parents have a loving community of believers in their church.” Marcus was wise beyond his years…
This was his favorite secular saying and he used it to let people know they had value:
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
? Albert Einstein
Marcus had unshakable faith, and although he always prayed and worshiped, over the past 6 months or so, Marcus prayed and worshiped Jesus for longer and longer periods of time. Signs, miracles and wonders follow those who believe and Marcus believed. In many ways, he lived the book of ACTS.
I loved and love you my young friend, you were an example and a teacher.
Marcus, my friend and my brother in Christ, I will miss you forever on earth and look forward to our reunion in heaven!

No matter what the test God always brings us through on dry ground without getting wet, but sometime we do travel in the sea believing the Lord Jesus causes us to triumph. The secert things belongs to the Lord, but He also rewards us after He see that no matter what the test we are faithful. Know this God is still near. I remember when Marcus would visit my son and laugh at my attire and the way I conduct myself as they play, boy would he laugh and laugh. One thing I believe Marcus either SINGING or LAUGHING. All is well God is good. I truly thank God for the time He allowed Marcus to be in my life. Peace my friends God's love is real. Dennis and Minister Vivian Lucas
