I am so sorry I could not be there for my aunt Margaret's service. I have so many fond memories of her, but my favorite is the time my brother Mike and I visited her. We had the expected experiences like climbing Stone Mountain and visiting the Cyclorama, but it was the way she turned the ordinary into the extraordinary that made the trip so memorable. When we went swimming at the Piedmont Driving Club pool, she noticed our fascination with the big diving board, so she hired a lifeguard to give us diving lessons. That's when I learned to do a jack-knife. She took us to the Theatre Under the Stars, and because she was an angel, we went backstage for autographs afterwards. This began a lifelong love of the theatre for me, which I share with my grandaughter whenever possible. Returning from the public library where we checked out books to read, we noticed a creek that was close to overflowing. She suggested we call the newspaper to report it, and helped us carry this through. She just had a way of turning everything into an adventure!
Margaret always made me feel special when I was around her, but SHE was the one who was special.

It was with the greatest of sorrow that we learned of the death of our dearest Aunt Margaret. We were in Mexico, and sadly unable to attend her service. In so many ways, she was an extension of our mother, her late and beloved sister, Mary Gray. She always made us, her nieces and nephews, feel as if we were the most special one. She spread her thoughtfulness and sweetness far and wide. We will miss her welcoming voice and radiant smile. I will always think of Aunt Margaret and Uncle Randolph as a "movie star" couple.

With the passing of Margaret Thrower, the world has lost someone very special. She was such a warm and charming lady. Randolph, you and your family are much in my thoughts these days.

With sadness, heard of your loss but know Margaret exemplified "a life well-led and so giving to others" - a lady with class!
(I was born in Quincy, too - my father's grandfather, "Ozzie" Thrower, and Randolph's father, Benjamin, were brothers (if I have my genealogy right).
My father was Gadsden County's Judge at time of his death in 1954.)

Margaret Thrower was a gracious, generous Southern lady with a definite flair. She loved life and adventure. She was my great aunt and a special friend to both of my parents. We will all miss her.

My deepest sympathy to the Thrower
family. My parents spoke often over the years of their friendship with Margaret and Randolph Thrower. I'm sure they would have wished me to express for them the Morton Family's
sorrow for your loss.

My heart felt sympathy to the Thrower family on the loss of a dear and treasured mother and grandmother. We in Atlanta have also lost a gifted and wonderful soul that can truly be counted among the true first ladies of the city.

When I was a child, nothing could top a visit with Aunt Margaret, except possibly a visit with Aunt Mary Gray. Our aunts were very special for all of us! Aunt Margaret had so many ideas and interesting things planned to see and do. As one of her innumerable nieces and nephews who lived in Atlanta at some point in our lives, it was fun to be caught up in Aunt Margaret's orbit. We never felt far from our parents' homes, because the Thrower home was our home, too. It was wonderful to share our love of Wesleyan through the years. We had great conversations about Wesleyan, or should I say, I listened to her many ideas for Wesleyan, even in my last visit with her in the hospital! I will miss her, but I am so thankful for the wonderful memories.

Even though we knew Mrs. Thrower a short time her special traits brought out in her obituary were evident. She had a kind and caring spirit with a twinkle in her eye. She was a charming lady, and we looked forward to every occasion we could be with her. I know she has left you with delightful memories that are priceless.
