Maria Nicolescu Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
Mrs. Maria (Mana) Nicolescu passed away on February 12, 2005. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, John (Nelu) Nicolescu. Maria, born in Slovakia in 1924, met her Romanian husband in Austria after World War II. They married in 1946 and immigrated to Argentina 3 years later, where they spent 10 exciting years. The couple moved to Atlanta in 1959, where they settled for the next 45 years. Maria was a vibrant and vivacious personality who truly treasured her family and friends. All the people around her felt her optimism and spirit, and her generosity was legendary. Maria and John held numerous dinner parties and celebrations, which were enhanced by her quick humor and delicious cooking. Maria worked for Avon Company, where she utilized her multi-lingual skills to the fullest. She is also survived by her sister, brother, and their families, all of whom reside in Slovakia, and her Romanian brother-in-law. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association in memory of Maria Nicolescu, (404) 728-1181. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church with the day and time to be announced. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 o'clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., Sandy Springs (404) 851-9900.

John - my sympathy and sincere best wishes to you and family. Was Maria's supervisor @ Avon in the mid- 60's. She was bright, funny, loyal, dependable and a very nice person in every way
