Mark Hirsch Obituary
Mark E. Hirsch
ACEQUIA – Mark Hirsch, 66, of Acequia, Idaho, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from an automobile accident near Acequia.
Mark was born in Rupert, Idaho, to Marvin and Maggie Hirsch. He grew up in Rupert and was always working. He started mowing lawns at eight years old and also had a paper route in his early days.
Mark was a fourth-generation owner of Rupert Iron Works and was the best machinist around. Friends and neighbors knew they could always count on Mark for any project they could come up with. His shop was more than a workplace; it was a gathering place where stories were shared, problems were solved and friendships were built. He was more than just a man who lived in the community – he was part of its foundation.
Mark and Terri had so many great adventures together with family and friends. They always said "don't wait until retirement to enjoy life, you might not get the chance. Mark is survived by the love of his life, Terri McBride; his sisters, (yes he has sisters and was not adopted contrary to the story he would tell with a smirk on his face) Jo and Terry Spackman, Mardell and Cole Kisler, and Patty and Casey Critchfield; his extended sisters, Sheila Petterson, and Beverly and Bruce Wojcik; his children, Tyson Hirsch, Zach, and Liana Hirsch, and Makelle (Kelle) Parish; his extended children, Cortney and Dusty Allison, and Cooper (C.J.), and Lauren McBride. He had nicknames for all the grandchildren and hardly ever called them by their given names: Keegan, Kaydance, Parker, Roman, Austin, Maddie, Sawyer and Rylinn, Brynlee, Leighton, and Grayson took it all in stride and with a smile.
Mark was very into sports of every kind, bowling, archery, hunting, volleyball, baseball and golf to mention a few. His final companion Sarge, preceded him in the journey to heaven by nine days and their ashes will be together always. He loved his horses and spent many, many hours at the "Barn" learning all about them from Bob Sargent.
Mark loved the outdoors, guns, his property, animals, and mostly his family. His quick wit, easy laugh, and ability to make anyone an instant friend and feel right at home were the qualities we will all remember the most. Mark's legacy is not only the iron he shaped but in the lives he touched.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held at the Rupert Elks Lodge on October 18, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m., where family and friends will gather to honor a life so fully lived.
Though his passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, the memories of his love, laughter and strength will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
