Mary Lynn & I were Central State classmates & she was extremely smart, loving, & a bundle of fun. She loved the Lord & if we were out late on a Saturday, we would always hear Mary Lynn’s heels going down the hall on Sunday on the way to church. When her dad, who owned a grocery store, found out she was smoking, he sent a case of “non-filtered” Kool cigarettes, as a strong deterrent. We learned to fold the tip & smoked away (). My prayers are with you & I know you have more wonderful memories than I have. So very happy to have been a part of her life.

Mary was my mother's (Bobbie Alice Wise) favorite cousin, and when I was young really young in the 1950s we took a trip to see Cousin Mary. It was really significant because my mother was legally blind. However before the surgery that left her legally blind she wanted to see her cousin Mary.

It is with great pleasure to say I had some funny times with MaryLynn that I will always remember. No-one can say the right words at a time of loss, especially a mother. She left a legacy behind her two wonderful children that will always exemplify her morals. God will and he can sustain you for the days to come and give you peace. Mrs. Watkins will be truly missed. I'm so sorry for your lost. It's so shocking because she was at church the week before. She loved her church and her church family. She was always willing to help whenever and however she could. I have a small printing company and when Phi Tau Omega Chapter needed a souvenir book she gave the job to me, she beleived in supporting the businesses in her church family. That's the type of person she was and I appreciated her so much. She was an angel on earth.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Mary Lynn. We both started with the Atlanta Public Schools in 1969 with the Model Cities Program. She was a joy to all who knew her. She seemed to greatly care for the children and families she served; many times going beyond the call of duty. I know you will miss her. May God help you cope with your loss.

Mario & Tam,

I learned of your mother's passing this morning, and I am deeply saddened by it. Sincere prayers and expressions of sympathy go out to you and your entire family. May the Lord sustain you during this time and give you peace & strength for the days ahead. Take comfort in remembering that we do not sorrow as others who have no hope. The Lord's promise to us is that those who die in Him are only sleeping until that great resurrection day. We will see her again.

We love you both dearly,

I extend sincere sympathy to the family of a friend, a former coworker, an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. sister, and a lady whom I met when our sons were toddlers in the same daycare facility, Mrs. Mary Lynn Watkins.

We have suffered a great loss, but we can rejoice in knowing that we shall see our loved one again "in that great gettin' up morning." In the meantime, our precious memories will help us through this very difficult time.

Please know that someone is thinking of you and wants you to know you are not alone.
