Nancy O'Neill was absolutely the best friend an individual could have. In 1968, Nancy and her Ellen and I with my Ashley Claire (both little girls being three)began a bond that transcended friendship and was, indeed, like family.
We vacationed together, talked as often as possible and otherwise considered ourselves to be each other's extended family. Even when I was in the Middle East for eleven years, when I would return for my two-weeks yearly vacation, we met, whether here in Florida or in Hilton Head.
Nancy had a difficult life in many ways but she never succombed to her adversities. Indeed, my children would chastise me for not being more like Nancy, though I had what most people would consider to be a most successful life.
Nancy's dying has left a ragged hole in my heart and my Ashley Claire, who considered Nancy a second mother, wrote me (from the UK) that she was so stressed over the death that she could hardly cope.
Our memories of Nancy will go with us until we have met our own end(s). And Nancy's legacy of Ellen and Tom and her four grands will always be in our hearts.
With the sorrow that only such a love can bring, I bid Nancy an "adieu" that I feel she is experiencing with me,
Carrie Nelle (Moye)

During her years on Hilton Head Island and Atlanta, Nancy was a fabulous interior designer and a dear, dear friend. Her gracious southern spirit will remain in my heart forever.
