Nelle Arrendale Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
Nelle Arrendale, age 96 of Clarkesville, GA, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2006. Born in Tiger, GA, on November 17, 1909, Nelle was the eldest daughter of Della Blalock Arrendale and Thomas Augustus "Gus" Arrendale, Sr. Nelle attended high school in Rabun Gap and later graduated from the Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta in 1934. Nelle worked as a registered nurse and the Superintendent of Nursing at Myers Clinic in Phillipe, West Virginia until 1953, when at that time she returned home to care for her father. She also worked in Cornelia, GA, assisting Dr. Joe Arrendale and for the Ralston Purina Company as a nurse before retiring in the mid 1970's. Nelle is predeceased by six siblings; Sam Arrendale, Howell Cobb Arrendale, Mary Arrendale Hale, Mable Arrendale Burns, Thomas "Tom" Augusta Arrendale, Jr., and William Lee Arrendale. Surviving are many nieces nad nephews and her aunt, Willie Elliot of Tiger, GA. Graveside services will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday, May 30th, at Tiger Cemetery with Rev. Lisa Graves officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to 1st Presbyterian Church, N. Washington St., Clarkesville, GA 30523. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home of Cornelia (706-778-8668) is in charge of arrangements.
