Patrick Boland Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

BOLAND, Patrick PATRICK MAURICE BOLAND SUNRISE 9/30/1965 SUNSET 5/28/2009 Patrick Boland was born in the parish of Portland, Jamaica to Mr. Dorel Boland and Mrs. Doreen Cornwall Boland. He was the middle child of five. Patrick emigrated with his family from Jamaica to Syracuse, NY in 1981. He has made residence in New York, Florida, and Georgia at one time or another. Patrick lived life to its fullest and encouraged others to do the same. His life was prematurely ended in the wee hours of 28 May 2009. He will be forever remembered and loved by many. He is survived by his mother, Doreen (Ocala, FL); his father, Dorel (St. Thomas, Jamaica); his grandmother Mrs. Ruth McCarthy (Lauderhill, FL); his eldest brother Mr. Audley Boland (Lauderhill, FL); his older brother, Mr. Collin Boland (Ocala, FL); his younger and only sister, Mrs. Sheron Bautista and her husband Erik (Lawrenceville, GA); his youngest brother, Lawrence Boland (also of Lauderhill, FL); and a flurry of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and too many friends to mention. Patrick was most recently employed with Republic Airlines (strongly affiliated with Delta Airlines) in Atlanta, GA. May he rest in peace and remain with the Lord forever more. Patrick will continue to bless lives as he has gone home, as much as he did in his abbreviated time here on earth. Funeral services will be held in Atlanta, Georgia at New Hope Church of God in Christ, 440 Gardner St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30310 (404) 688-4673, Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at noon. Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by H.M. Patterson & Son, Funeral Directors, 1020 Spring Street, NW Atlanta, GA 30309 (404) 876-1022. Patrick will be finally laid to rest over the weekend in Ocala, FL. Thoughts and prayers for his family are appreciated.

I literally just found out about your passing 3 months ago. Patrick you will truly be missed and I wish we never lost touch. Sheron I only met you once at Christmas time around 2005, but I knew Patrick loved his sister. He touched and inspired any and everyone he came in contact with. A real angel has his wings now, I love you Pat and you will always have a place in my heart...

A heart of gold stopped beating. Two shining eyes at rest. God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best. God knows you had to leave us, but you didn't go alone, for parts of us went with you. The day he took you home. To some you'll be forgotten, To others just part of the past. But to us, who loved and lost you, your memory will always last.

To The Boland Family,

May I offer my sincere condolonces. I met Patrick for the first time in 2000, on my first visit to the USA, he was then living in New York. Through a mutual friend, he allowed me stay at his house in NY City and what a fantastic host he was. Since that first trip every time I have travelled to the USA I had stayed with or spent time with Patrick.

He was one of the kindest and most thoughtful people that I have ever met and thank God for the experience of knowing him, because it was a pleasure and an honour. I will sadly miss him and still can't believe it's real.

I pray that God will give you all the strength to come through this very difficult time.

Much Love

I pray for strength and guidance for the Boland Family. From the moment I met Patrick I knew right away he was a refined and intelligent man. He was one of the first Flight Attendants I worked with after my training program in october 2008. His professional attitude and posh demeanor was geniune. Working with him was a pleasure. Sharing similar backgrounds and cultures made our bond even greater. Patrick definietely was a great mentor to me within my first few months of flying. I know he will be soaring much higher with the Lord and watching over all of us. May God continue to bless the Boland Family with His everlasting grace and mercy.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket they rattle among the change. My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole.
They give me comfort when I think I am alone, Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there. But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are most precious. Love you and Miss you much!

To the Boland family,

Please except my deepest condolences. Patrick will always be loved and truly missed. He was truly a rose. I think he would say to all of us the words expressed in this poem:

Miss Me, But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road,
and the sun has set for me.
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little—but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that was once shared.
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take,
and each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the master’s plan,
a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
go to the friends we know.
Bear your sorrow in good deeds. Miss me,
but let me go.
