My uncle, Richard Burkhalter, called me Friday night to tell me the sad news. It's hard to imagine that such an important fixture of my childhood is no longer with us. Ralph Morgan was the epitome of a great guy. He gave his time so selflessly to all the kids of Midway. As an adult, now I look back on those Midway years, and I am so appreciative to Ralph and all the other coaches who gave so many wonderful life lessons. I've heard it said that nothing done for a child is ever in vain. Ralph did so much for so many. Over the years, many times when faced with a challenge, I would say to myself...can o'corn. For all of us who had that Midway experience, Ralph will always be remembered. Good game, Ralph.

Sorry, but I just have heard of Ralphs passing. Mona, Mrs. Morgan, and families, so sadden to hear...please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
I have so many memories of him and softball @ Midway...he was a great player and coach. "Just a can of corn" he would say. Redman, suntan lotion and a glove...that's all he needed. Mona, Tammy, Deron...I have so many great memories of us with Ralph at the ballpark. My prayers are with the Morgan family during this time.

Ralph was a wonderful man and a terrfic softball coach.I just the other day said something about Ralph at my daughters softball game to my dad (Bob Dunn) who help Ralph coach what would Ralph say? when your team is doing real bad and in quote " this is just pitiful"He was the funniest guy and also when I played first base he would tell me I can see it in her eyes Deron that meant the girl at bat was about to bunt.He will truely be missed. My prayers and thoughts are with the Morgan family.Love, Deron (Dunn) Moore.

Our hearts were sadden when we heard about Ralph. We left the Decatur area about 20 years ago and haven't had any contact with Midway Girls Softball. Ralph was one of the anchors that held the girls together and taught them a lot of softball, especially our two girls. I worked with Ralph for a couple of years and we had a great time together. In fact, I had asked about him the last time we saw Bob Dunn. So you have been remembered and will surely be missed by family and friends. God's blessings be with family during these days. Our prayers are with you.

I have just heard of this great loss! I learned so much (softball) and respected him so much and although I haven't seen him in quite some time I've thought of him often. You will be greatly missed. Mona, you are in my thoughts. Tammy Evans Lasiter

I ONLY HEARD TODAY ABOUT THE PASSING OF MY GOOD FRIEND, RALPH MORGAN. I HAVE BEEN LIVING IN FL. FOR 11 YRS. SO YOU LOSE CONTACT WITH FRIENDS. RALPH WAS THE MANAGER OF THE MIDWAY MAJOR GIRLS 18 AND UNDER SOFTBALL TEAM. I WAS PRIVILEDGED TO HELP, PROBABLY HINDER, WITH COACHING DUTIES. HE WAS A GIVING MAN WHO WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP GIRLS ON ALL THE TEAMS. I SHALL MISS HIM VERY MUCH, MONA YOU HAD A REMARKABLE DAD WHO WAS A DAD TO MANY. MY SYMPATHY TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, I WISH I HAD KNOWN I WOULD HAVE MADE EVERY EFFORT TO BE AT THE SERVICE. LORDY LORDY WE HAD SOME GREAT TIMES SCOUTING THE OTHER TEAMS, GOING TO THE FRIDAY AUCTIONS, BUYING JUNK WE DIDN'T REALLY NEED. MISS YA BUD.
