RODON, Dr. Raul E. Dr. Raul E. Rodon, age 41, of Atlanta, GA died peacefully at his home Monday, August 28, 2017. Raul Eduardo Rodon was born on March 24, 1976 in New York, NY and raised in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Raul received his medical degree at the University of Zulia in Maracaibo in 2000 and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta. In 2004, he joined ApolloMD physicians group to which he returned in 2017. In 2006, he continued practicing at Piedmont Healthcare until 2008 when he opened his own practice, North Atlanta Urgent Care, with his long-time friend, Andrew Van Horn. They expanded opening a second clinic location in Alpharetta, GA in 2010. While Raul's professional achievements are staggering, the light of his life was his family. He is survived by his mother, Dr. Emma Bracho Graterol; father, Dr. Raul Rodon Sr.; sister, Cristina Rodon Paris (Osmer); sister, Dr. Emma Victoria Rodon, all of Maracaibo, Venezuela; and significant other, Julia Duffy of Atlanta, GA. Dr. Rodon was an advocate for community health promotion. He volunteered his time providing healthcare to the underserved and homeless in Atlanta, as well as community outreach at local schools and various community events. He was known to his colleagues, friends and patients as a kindhearted, devoted, and compassionate physician. Dr. Rodon was charismatic, passionate and had an amazing spirit for life. Outside of work, Raul was always looking for his next adventure, whether climbing mountains or exploring the world; he was an avid traveler who enjoyed sharing new experiences alongside his loved ones.

I never met Dr Raul . His death was so tragic and so relatable I find myself thinking of him every Aug 28th. I´ve since moved to MI a couple of years ago but continue to remember him and his family in my prayers. RIP, Dr.

Dr Rodon saved my life in 2009. I had a complicated illness and nobody could figure out what was wrong with me... until I saw Dr Rodon in the emergency room. He was able to comfort me and it wasn't until he saw me and diagnosed me that I didn't believe I was going to die from this mystery illness. He had the best, kindest bedside manner and I have been singing his praises to anybody who would listen ever since. I was so heartbroken to read today that he passed away but I wanted to come on here and let his friends and family know how much respect I have for him as a doctor and as a human being. He was a gifted doctor, more handsome than George Clooney :-), and always was so full of joy and happiness. I will miss him. My prayers are with those who loved him, I know you must miss him terribly.

Raul was a very special person and we will never understand why God summoned him to Heaven at such a young age. We met three years ago when I went to his clinic on Piedmont Rd., about 10 minutes from my home. He was such a gracious young Doctor. After my exam for a chest cold, I asked him if he enjoyed wines. I invited him to one of my wine tastings, dinners with friends followed, and we became good friends. I helped him with his collection of fine wines and our friendship grew.

His smile and calm manner were infectious and we often talked about world travels, and families. I was blessed to meet his parents and one sister over the past couple years, and his lovely lady Julia.

Once you meet someone like Raul, he will be with you because memories never die. All we have are our memories now, and Raul certainly impacted every person he met in his life in a positive way. No one who knew him will ever forget him. My special lady Mandi Du and I both feel his spirit will continue to shine down on his family and friends from Heaven for the rest of all of our lives.

I will never forget the day Raul and Julia came to visit at her grandparents farm. I watched as Raul surrounded by Julia's three brothers and her uncle Matt along with a Vietnam vet schooled him on how to shoot a rifle. He had so much fun and we had been so worried how do we make this very successful Dr comfortable. I know he was a good man my Julie loved him.

I attended residency training with Raul and was a friend. He always had an infectious smile and gravitated towards laughter. I was saddened & taken aback when I heard the news of his passing. Dr Rodon recognized that the back pain that took me to his Urgent Care Clinic was much more serious. He sent me to the emergency room at Emory Crawford Long. After a 2 week stay with a mrsa staff infection that almost won, I can say with certainty that his skill as a doctor helped save my life. I am deeply sorry for your loss and am equally grateful that my path crossed his.

Dr. Rodon was an excellent Dr. and very caring person. II was seen at NAUC on several occasions and his comforting manner and great care was so helpful. I am greatly saddened to hear of his passing, and my most sincere condolences to his family, friends and the staff at NAUC.

Raul was my neighbor living directly below me in our apartment building .I was taken to the emergency room at Piedmont in July 2008 at 2:00Am and miraculously Raul was the ER physician. His presence was so comforting when I was in a near death situation. I was sad when he left our residence and I am deeply saddened to hear that his beautiful light has gone from this world.

I met Raul at the parking deck of our condo and his infectious smile and zest for life is something I'll always remember. He had a heart of gold... always finding ways to help others and help me when I needed advice from a doctor or friend. I know Raul came into my life for a reason. Rest In Peace sweet soal.
