Robert Harris Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
REV, ROBERT HARRIS Rev. Robert Lee Harris, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather of Decatur, Ga. passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2005. He was born in Athens, Ga. on December 22, 1919 and attended Clarke County School System. He later moved to Atlanta, Ga. and was a dedicated member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Atlanta. He was a supervisor at Diamond and R. L. Sanders Roofing Company, later establishing Harris Roofing Company upon his retirement. Rev. Harris was preceded in death by one son, Stanley and one adopted daughter, Phyllis. Survivors include his devoted wife of 58 years, Nellie Harris; two sons, Robert and Michael; seven daughters, Annie, Priscilla, Thelma, Elizabeth, Julia, Shirley and Cynthia; three adopted sons, Reginald, Patrick and Timothy; three adopted daughters, Wanda, Vickie, and Tameka; one brother, Willie Lumpkins; one sister, Julia Bonds; twenty-nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2005, 1:00 p.m at the New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church, 923 Valley Brook Drive, Decatur, with remains placed in state at 11:00 a.m. Bishop James H. Morton, pastor, officiating. Interment Kennedy International Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the chapel this evening (Friday) from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 1033 Eastlake Drive, Decatur, at 12:00 noon. Robert Harris and his wife Nellie were so very loved by our family. We employed them for many years both at RL Sanders and Diamond Roofing Company. Nellie was a great help to me at home with my daughter and myself and my dear mother. She came with her pastor to my mother's side when we needed prayer and love. We could not contact them after we moved to Grayson from Roswell. We tried many occasions to contact Peaches, Nellie's daughter but no luck. Our best to their family if they see this. Doug and I were so very fond of both Robert and Nellie, they hold a special place in our hearts! I hope the children are all well and doing great as their mother and father loved them all dearly. Daddy, as I sit here and think of you. I miss you sooooooooo much, I wish just for a moment I could see your face or just smell you. I really wish alot, but I know your in heaven watching over us all.Kelsi and Kinsley talks about their PaPa, all the time. I know you know how much they cry about you, And all the things I tell them you want them to not do. Daddy, I hear so many stories what your in heaven doing from the girls. It's so funny but they talk like they really know. But they always say your there helping the other people and GOD. And that I know for sure your doing cause that's what you did when you was here with us. Daddy, I have to go I'm here crying at work and typing like your really going to read this. But I feel like you here and I feel better,cause I feel like I'm really telling you something you need to know. Today here you been away 1yr.And for us it feels like forever. We all still talk about you like your still here. For us you are and will always be. Yeah!! Shorty miss you to and want leave that house thinking your coming back.
