MAHAFFEY, Robert ROBERT KILEY MAHAFFEY Robert Kiley Mahaffey, 44, passed away in Jacksonville, FL on November 19, 2012. He was born May 15, 1968 in Winter Park, FL to James W. and Mary Mahaffey. Robert attended Wilbraham and Monson Academy where he was the Senior Class Speaker. He then attended Ole Miss and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Robert was a championship skydiver and held 2 world records. He is survived by his daughter Montgomery Mahaffey; his former wife and mother of their daughter, Keckley Mahaffey; father James W. Mahaffey, Sr.; mother Mary "Polly" Mahaffey; brothers James W. Mahaffey, Jr. and William Mahaffey; sister Mary Mahaffey; cousins Texys and Trey Mahaffey. Services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11am at the Baldwin Fairchild Lake Ivanhoe Chapel with gathering one hour prior to the service. What a huge loss. Robert was incredibly talented, kind, and intelligent. He lived about a half a millennium's worth of life in his too-short 44 years. The stories, man, the stories! The good times! He was one of the greatest friends I'll ever make, and his absence is painful. No one's ever taught me or helped me so much, and I'll be eternally grateful for his mentorship and friendship. I love ya, Robert. You were a hell of a man, and your spirit endures to inspire us all.

My heart is crushed upon learning this news just today. Robert became one of my first friends after my move to Florida many years ago. We were close in age, with our birthdays only a couple weeks apart. He loved skateboarding, skydiving and playing music. He could play anything by ear --a true God-given talent. I vividly remember him playing newly composed music on the electronic keyboards, wishing he knew how to write the music in his head. He was charming, witty, opinionated and, yes, mischievious at times (grinning all the while). I still have pictures he gave me of him skydiving barefoot. I'll just imagine him soaring those skies, free, creating the next beautiful song...
My sympathies to his family and his many friends. There will never be another Robert Mahaffey...

We're deeply sorry for the sadness and loss of Robert. Krista and I both saw our dads go enter heaven this year and we share in your pain and grief. Please know that your family is and will remain in our prayers. Krista's due in a couple weeks with our 7th baby on her dad's birthday.
