Roger Kohl Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
KOHL, Roger Roger Arthur Kohl, age 77, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away on April 26, 2008. During his time in the US Navy, he earned a Navy Occupation Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Korean Service Medal. He was also the Quarter Master on USS Lionfish and USS Remora. He worked for J.C. Penney Company for 37 years retiring in 1992. He became a pilot in 1989 and served the people of Plano, TX through Angel Flight, volunteering his airplane and time helping the sick receive treatment in other areas of the country. He survived by his wife, Diane Helen Kohl; children, Brad Arthur Kohl and his wife, Carol of Athens, GA, Ken B. Kohl of Athens, GA, Kathy K. Ball and her husband, David of Lawrenceville, GA; Janet K. Bell and her husband, David of Duluth, GA; Timothy J. Kohl and his wife, Linda of Locust Grove, GA, Teri Devin Kohl of Lilburn, GA; sister, Carol Winkler and her husband, Lee of Beaver Dam, WI; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Church with Father James Harrison as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Church, 85 Gloster Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30044. Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel. 770-277-4550

My wife Maria and I were greatly saddened by the news of Roger's passing. He was always a true friend and a wonderful manager. May God bless you and keep you always, Roger.

I worked with Roger and his daughter at JCP for many years. A great associate @ friend while I was there. I retired in '89.
Sorry to learn of his passing. My sympathy to his family.

My sympathy to the entire Kohl family on your loss.
For those too young to remember (or may have forgotten) I lived with your family on Knob Hill for several months before I got married; and Roger did a reading at my wedding. He also helped me get a part-time job (while I was in high school) at J. C. Penney's Regional Office then on Ponce de Leon Ave.
Roger was quite a character and I have and will always remember him with great fondness and a smile.
