Family-Placed Death Notice

ROYCE EDWIN WITHERS, SR. Royce Edwin Withers, Sr., 82, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, March 11, 2007 at his home in Roswell, Georgia. Born on March 25, 1924 in Lavonia, Georgia, Mr. Withers was preceded in death by his parents, James Withers and Myrtie Perkins Withers, and seven siblings- Mary Lou Buffington, Furman Withers, Irene Tyler, Inman Withers, Doris Withers, Hoyt Withers, and Harold Withers. Mr. Withers retired in 1984 as Credit Manager (Southeast Division) of the Chevron Corporation. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army from 1943 to 1946, and a member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church and Brookfield Country Club in Roswell. Survivors include his wife of nearly 61 years, Betty Gunter Withers of Roswell; two daughters, Lyn Gentry (Dee Dukes) of Greensboro, North Carolina and Jan Withers (Harold Londer) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, one son, Ed Withers (Denise) of Louisville, Kentucky, one grandson, Graham Withers, also of Louisville, one brother, Hugh Withers of Dumas, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday evening March 12, from 4 until 7 PM at the Funeral Home. The celebration of his life will be observed Tuesday, March 13, 2 PM in the Chapel of Roswell Funeral Home with burial to follow in GreenLawn Cemetery. The family expresses grateful appreciation to the Compassionate Healthcare Hospice team for their comfort and care. Expressions of sympathy may be given to the "54 And More" club or Endowment Fund of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church at 69 North Main Street, Alpharetta, GA 30004.
