Sam Ables Obituary


Family-Placed Death Notice

ABLES, Sam, Jr. Sam C. Ables, Jr., 90, died on February 26, 2009 after fighting cancer. He was a native of Atlanta and was a graduate of Tech High School in 1935. Mr. Ables was a Veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Oleta D. Ables. After his military service, he worked for over 50 years as an Insurance Agency Owner for Franklin Life. For several years, Mr. Ables was an active volunteer with Northside Youth Organization and Marist School. He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, David and Elizabeth Ables; William D. Ables and Susan Ables; sisters, Jean Carroll, Dot Wingo, Janet Burgess; sister in law, Mildred Ables; grandchildren Turner and Ali Ables, Will Ables. Graveside services will be held in the Sunrise Chapel of Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, GA, 30328, 11 o'clock, Saturday, March 7, 2009, with the Rev. Mack Hanna officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by H. M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel.
