Sandrea Wood Obituary

WOOD, Sandrea "Sandy" Gaines

Sandrea "Sandy" Gaines Wood, age 83, passed away on October 20, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, H.A. and Dorothy Gaines; her brother, Terry A. Gaines, and her husband, Ronald "Ron" L. Wood.

A graduate of Tucker High School, University of Georgia, and the University of Virginia, she split her career between teaching in elementary schools in North and South Georgia and computer programming for the State of Georgia, where she met her husband. She and Ron enjoyed traveling to National Parks in the US and Canada but locally enjoyed taking her family members to venues around Atlanta which are both educational and entertaining.

At a later date family will gather to scatter her and her late husband's ashes over a body of water of their choosing. While there were no immediate survivors, she is survived by Gary C. Gaines; nephew, Terri Butler; niece, Elizabeth A. Gaines; niece; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Katherine Lazarowski, Christian Gaines, Sarah Campbell, Kristina Craig, Rebecca Heine.

Friends wishing to honor her memory may send donations to the Center of Puppetry Arts, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Fernbank Museum, or the humanitarian organization of their choice. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Georgia.
