GREENE ADAMS, Teresa
Teresa Greene Adams (formerly Teresa Greene-Johnson) age 66 of Fairburn, Georgia, died September 10, 2021. She resided in the Metro Atlanta area over 30 years. Left to cherish her loving memories are: her very loving and devoted sons: Parnell (Rico) Adams, (Atlanta); Therron Adams (California); a loving grandson Peter Adams; Dr. Joseph McCray her loving and devoted Soulmate of 15 years; Dear Sister Friends: Rev. Dorothy Thomas, Mary Ford, Shirley Lacey and extended family; very special nieces Angela Greene and Sadilya Jeter. In her hometown of Montgomery, AL, she is survived by a brother, Henry Greene Jr. (Laumduan) and sisters, Delores Price, Linda King (Aaron). Sister Carolyn Jeter in Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sadie Greene and five siblings (Jimmie, Charles, William, Timothy and Debra).
Teresa enjoyed a fulfilling and satisfying life. She delighted in spending as much quality time as possible with her adoring and loving sons and grandson. Moreover, with her Soulmate and travel club friends, she enjoyed travels nationally and abroad, as well as musical and cultural excursions in and around Metro Atlanta.
She was eloquent and classy and people enjoyed her company. She often enjoyed great fellowships and interesting discussions with her Twisted Sisters Book Club friends. She was also a passionate flower gardener and physical fitness enthusiast and was quite adept at home interior decorating.
Teresa had a tremendous passion for education. She graduated magna cum laude from Alabama State University. She proudly served the University as a Golden Ambassador during her junior and senior years. Additionally, she earned graduate and postgraduate degrees and certifications from NOVA and Georgia State Universities and Massey Draughon Business College. She was an active member of the ASU Metro Atlanta Alumni Chapter. She graduated from G. W. Carver High School in 1973.
For many years, she was a community activist and leader in Dekalb and Fulton counties. She was also elected to the Georgia State House of Representatives. She was the recipient of numerous civic and professional recognitions and awards including the Georgia Library Media Association, Legislator of the Year " Star Award" and " Pillar "of the Lakes of Cedar Grove Community Award. She was the proud niece of renowned Civil Rights Leader, Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth.
After a fulfilling, thirty-year career in education, Teresa retired from Fulton County School District in 2017. For a decade, she also worked as an adjunct instructor at Georgia Perimeter Technical College. She proudly served as State Treasurer and Board of Trustee member for the Professional Association of Georgia Educators.
She was a member of Friendship Community Church.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Murray Brothers Chapel. Interment Lincoln Cemetery. Today, public viewing will be from 1 - 6 PM at Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel (404) 349-3000
