Not sure what to say?

June 8, 2009

Hey Ty. I made brownies tonight with lots of chewy edges. Went to a brunch yesterday with friends and talked about sleeping till noon as a teenager. Remembering how you and Bran would come wake us up in the mornings whispering that it was time to get up, your little faces and big blue eyes even with ours as you stood next to our beds and we desperately tried to convince you we needed just five more minutes. No such luck :) This is the worst thing to have to learn to live with and you know the levels of where we've already been. I love you and I miss you.

February 3, 2009

Hey Ty. James got a ton of Legos for his birthday, one of the sets has a four wheeler in it. He said, "Look at the lawn mower." It made me think about the time that you decided to take him out on the riding mower all over the yard. You were headed out the door with your coat on and him wrapped in a sweater of yours, both of you still in your PJs. I told you he needed something on his feet. Without turning around or saying anything you pulled his socks out of your pocket and waved them in the air. He loved being on the lawn mower with you. He loved being anywhere with you. I love you and miss you so much I can't breathe. How is this even possible? Ferf

Kathi,

When I heard the news about Tyler I was just devastated and speechless. While I never had the opportunity to met him, he must have been a wonderful, caring person based on the posts in this guest book. Take comfort in that. It is a testament to you, Benny and your whole family. He obviously touched many, many hearts. Please know that I will be thinking about you and your family in this difficult time.

Benny, Kathi, and Branden,
Our hearts are sadden by the loss of your precious son. Know that you're in our thoughts and continued prayers. Our memories of Tyler are filled with smiles...that little blonde boy zipping through the halls of GAC, racing through the doors for recess, and proving that size didn't matter.

Our deepest sympathies on the passing of Tyler, or Tywer as our son Jack would say. We know that this is a tremendous loss for everyone who was touched by this wonderful young man. Though we only met him a few times while he was visiting Jen, Jeff and James, his smile and energy was infectious. Please know you are surrounded by friends and family sending prayers your way.

I'll never forget the little boy in the Robin costume or the young man that I was able to spend some a little time with in the recent past. It was a delight to see Tyler's big heart, great sense of humor, loyalty to friends, and willingness to work hard and help out. Tyler truly grew into his cape and brought honor to it. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know your entire family is in my prayers.

Our most vivid memory of Tyler is opening our back door to this little, tow-headed boy, dressed in boots, shorts, and a cape, even in the depths of winter. We moved away before Tyler and our son, Michael, grew up, but the memories remain. Benny, Kathi, and Branden please accept this as a small token of our deepest sympathy and sorrow for you all. Your entire family was the "heart" of Wilshire.

Thinking of Tyler always brings a smile. One day at McConnell, he snuck away from his class just to come to my classroom, sit down and say "hello". I was more worried about getting in trouble than he was!! You couldn't help but laugh.

I can still see him on the hockey court.....

Our hearts hurt with you.
With love,
