PERKINS, Gunnery Sargeant Walter E. Gunnery Sargeant Walter Edward Perkins of Atlanta, GA passed away Sunday Dec. 14, 2014. Walter was born in 1931 and attended elementary and high school in Atlanta, GA. He was baptized and attended Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Walter served 30 years as a U.S. Marine and later worked in Civilian Personnel and the Golfer's Club at Fort McPherson Military Base. His favorite pastime was golf. Walter is survived by his wife, Marguerite Perkins; a brother, Paul Perkins; sons, Walter E. Perkins Jr., Charles E. Johnson, Jr. and Walter (Lula) Roberts; daughters, Elaine (Leo) Holmes and Cheryl Johnson; grand children; great grandchildren ;nieces; nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life for Mr. Walter E. Perkins will be held on Sat. Dec. 20, 2014 at 11 AM. Murray Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Apostle Leo Holmes; Officiating. Family will assemble at funeral home prior to the service. Internment will take place Monday Dec. 22, 2014 at GA National Military Cemetery in Canton GA. at 12:30 PM. Public Viewing TODAY 1PM-9PM.
