William CARRINGTON Obituary

CARRINGTON, William Randolph "Randy" William Randolph Carrington (Randy) died June 1, 2017 from liver cancer. Randy fought a mighty battle and outlived medical predictions for his longevity. Randy was the son of Randolph and Lillian Underwood Carrington. He grew up in Decatur, graduated from Decatur High School, and attended Mercer and Georgia State Universities. For over two decades Randy resided in Mableton, Georgia where he worked in the window industry. Following his retirement, he co-authored and co-illustrated two children's books with his sister, Gail. Randy's rediscovered talents in the visual arts brought him great joy. Randy leaves behind his son Bradley Scott Carrington, fianc? Kathy Taylor, grandchildren Ashley and Jake, sisters Ellen Morris and her husband Ernest of Winston-Salem, NC, Gail Goldberg and her husband David of Roswell, nieces Deanna Rogowski and Susan Kochell both of Midlothian, VA, and nephews Richard Jones of Glen Ellyn, IL and Benjamin Jones of Seattle, WA. Randy will be cremated, and a private "celebration of life" is to be held at The River Club at Martin's Landing on Father's Day, June 18, 2017. I am sorry to hear that Randy passed away recently. Randy and I were freshman roommates at Mercer for the school year 1966/67. It was a long, exciting and interesting year for both of us, since we were on our "own" for the first time. A couple of years later I ran into Randy again, this time at Ga. State where we had both transferred. We had a good time catching up for the previous year we had not seen each other. It was back in the 70's when I last saw him, but I will say it was a pleasure knowing him and the year we spent at Mercer.
