William Pyron Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

PYRON, William WILLIAM EDWARD PYRON William Edward Pyron, age 76, of Atlanta, GA, passed away Thursday, November 18, in Brunswick, GA. William, or Billy as he was known to friends and family, is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Rex Pyron Jr.; his father, Charles Rex Pyron Sr.; and his mother Anne Hightower Pyron. He is survived by his sons William Edward Pyron, Jr., of Boston; David Rex Pyron, of Atlanta; Charles Vaughan Pyron, of Little Rock; daughters-in-law Diane Pyron, Jennifer Pyron and Stephanie Pyron; and grandchildren Amelia Ruby Pyron, William Atticus Pyron, Vaughan Elizabeth Pyron, Cayce Grace Pyron, Raleigh Ann Pyron, Charles Vaughan Pyron Jr., and Emily Edwards Pyron. Billy was an avid outdoorsman, conservationist and hunter. He was a "Buckhead Boy" who grew up roaming the wilderness of the north Atlanta woodlands long before the spectacular development that consumed all the land. Whether walking in the woods with his faithful canine companions Teddy, Neumont and Bliss or biking to the town square in Brunswick, he enjoyed life to the fullest. A self-proclaimed Southern Ruralist, he was an avid reader, a collector of unique folk art and an aficionado of the southern mystique. His favorite place on earth was the Marshes of Glynn. He moved to Brunswick in 2005 to be closer to the salt air and live oaks that he loved -- the land that the poet Sidney Lanier immortalized in his epic poem "Marshes of Glynn." His final years were full of walks on the beach, breakfasts at the Mallery Street Café, oysters at the Raw Bar on Jekyll Island and visits from his grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to The Georgia Sea Turtle Center, 214 Stable Road, Jekyll Island, Georgia, 31527.

I am a first cousin (mothers) of Billy's. I roamed those north Atlanta woodlands with Billy and brother Charles as kids when I would visit them on Mount Paren Rd.
I too lost touch with Billy and regret that I didn't know he was in Brunswick for I am in the area often and would have enjoyed visiting with him.
Jan and I are sorry for your loss.
