Your light will forever shine.

Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV)

14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I miss Deacon so much. My children and I often speak of him. He truly loved God and His (as Deacon Thomas would list) Commandments, Laws, Testimonies, Precepts, Judgments, Statutes, Ordinances, and Word. Deacon Thomas was used by God to steer me back to the path that God had laid for me.

What a joyous homegoing celebration for one who kept te faith, and was ready to except the finishing line. Our Deacon Thomas knew when to answer the roll, he didn't hesitate to say "present" he knew that it was time to close the traveling bags, read Psalm 133. I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith, I am ready to enter in, line a few common meters, say my "Thank you Jesus" Amen, Amen"
Sleep on Deacon Thomas, take your rest..

Theresa, Melvin, Alan, Eric and Corey - My deepest prayers go out to you during this difficult time. I will miss your dad, but will always remember the great talks we had, what a great man he was and the way he touched so many during his time 'on loan' to us on this earth. He was always so kind and treated us as though we were his own children. I pray that you will find peace in the weeks to come and will cherish the many wonderful memories you are left with. My love to you always.

It is with deep sadness that I offer my heartfelt condolences in the passing of Deacon Thomas. He was a true testament of what God requires of all of us. Which is to love him with all our heart and will all our mind and with all our soul. We the Layman of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia have been blessed, enriched and honored to have served with him. I recall, while attending the Walter Cade's workshops; his words of wisdom... "We the Layman of Georgia must always represent". He was a kind, thoughtful, gentle, soft spoken and wise man who was well loved and respected by all the brethren. He will truly be missed, but his legacy lives on with all of us. I thank God that he shared one of his angels with us for just awhile and for myself and many others to have personally known and fellowshipped with him, it has truly enriched our lives. Deacon Thomas like Paul has fought a good fight, has finished his race, has kept the faith, and now awaits him a crown that our lord Jesus Christ will give to him. May the fond memories of this "Great" man and Gods holy spirit comfort the family in the days ahead.

Life's race well run, Life's work well done, Life's crown well won, And now he rests. The passing of Deacon William Thomas is a great loss to me and the local, state and national laymen's movement. His loyalty, support and love of the movement and its work got us going and kept us going. His love and work has won him the title of "Mr. Georgia Layman" We shall forever cherish his memory. Rest in peace, my brother.

I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of my brother, mentor and friend Dea. William Thomas. I had the pleasure of serving with Brother Thomas in the General Missionary Convention of Georgia Laymen's Ministry for a number of years. Brother Thomas was active both on the state, regional and national level. In fact, he is credited, along with a handful of others, with getting the State of Georgia the recognition we currently hold on the region and national level. He was a giant among men and will be sadly missed. He often spoke of his beloved Mildred and I know he is happy to join her once again.
My prayer is that The Lord will allow His peace and love to fill the family's hearts in the difficult days ahead.

Some months back, my son said that everyone should have a Deacon Thomas in their life. God used Deacon Thomas to stir up a hunger and thirst for the Word of God in my children and me. I pray that there are other Deacon Thomas' out there. I love Deacon Thomas so much. I was a wreck when I met him. The first thing he said to me was, "I love you already". I had a wall around me that no one could get through because of all the heartache I had suffered. Deacon Thomas kept at me until I realized that someone could and did love me outside of the members of my family. He loved me and was unwilling that Satan would own my soul. I thank God and our Savior Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Ghost that he kept at me until I learned that Jesus is love. Love, not discouragement, not embarrassment, not humiliation, but love. I bless the Lord because my Deacon is where he has so longed to be, in the presence of God. I will not say that there will never be another Deacon Thomas because I pray that it will. The Bible teaches in Isaiah 6:1, "in the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. I must carry on without what has been my backbone. The Deacon would warn me that he was leaving and that I am to never forget, while others will try to convince me otherwise: I am to bear record of myself and that my record is to be true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go. Carnal minds cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go. Only those who belong to God and are filled with His Holy Spirit.
