Wynelle Potts Obituary

POTTS (Teer), Wynelle

1931 - 2024

Vivian Wynelle Teer Potts died peacefully in her sleep December 13, 2024, at her home in Brashear, Missouri after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was 93. Special thanks to Hospice of Northeast Missouri for the their care in her final days. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

On January 24, 1959, she married William "Bill" David Potts, Jr., whom she called Sonny. They lived in the same house in Atlanta, Georgia for 51 years where she and Sonny raised their family and were involved in church and civic activities.

Wynelle was born February 20,1931, in Ensley, Alabama, and was the daughter of James Erskine and Flora Mae Perry Teer. Wynelle attended high school in Birmingham. She graduated from Birmingham-Southern College, Class of 1951 majoring in music and education. She taught elementary school for blind children in Birmingham and Atlanta. She founded Atlanta Classic Homes for Special Events, a exclusive event planning firm, and managed it until she retired in 1996.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William D. Potts, Jr.; children: James David Potts, Brashear, MO; William Xavier Potts, Fairhope, AL, Amy Wynelle Potts, Jefferson City, MO; Sally Ann Lewis, Greensboro, NC; five grand children and one great-grandchild.
