Zelma Phillips Obituary
Family-Placed Death Notice
Zelma (Praytor) Phillips, 95, of Cleveland, GA, formerly of Dekalb County, died Saturday January 12, 2008. The funeral will be 1:00pm Tuesday January 15 at Bill Head Funeral Home Lilburn/Tucker Chapel with Rev. Chet Fowler officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Decatur. Mrs. Phillips was born on Columbus Day October 12, 1912 in Newmarket, AL, attended the University of Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro and had Nurses training in Birmingham, AL. She was the third Police Woman hired by Dekalb County in 1951 and worked there 8 years. Mrs. Phillips and her late husband Bob Phillips owned and operated Playland Roller Skating Center on Buford Hwy in Chamblee, GA. Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Beverly Boatwright of Gainesville, GA. Barbara Kayfetz of Bolinas, CA. Betsy and Robert Fowler of Shady Dale, GA; grandchildren, Lynn Cason, Richard Spindell, David Spindell, Scott Thomas and Brooke England; great grandchildren, Kristin Kozar, Justin Thomas, Meghan Thomas, Connor Thomas, Rosie Spindell, Bryce England, Ethan England, Allyson Thomas and Bethany Thomas. The family will receive friends Monday January 14 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory Lilburn/Tucker Chapel 770-564-2726
