Carol Jackson Obituary

Carol Thomas Jackson, 67, of Lewis, died Oct. 29, 2010, in Atlantic.
He was born Dec. 30, 1942, in Vail, the son of Beulah Heller and Fred Jackson. Carol is one of three siblings. He married Joan Fiebelkorn on Feb. 14, 1964, in Burke, S. D.
Carol, also known as "Bunny," enjoyed spending the majority of his time outdoors. His favorite activities were hunting, fishing, camping and playing cards. He took pleasure in being able to work on objects or build something. In his younger years he spent a great deal of time driving stock cars. Carol was known for always helping other people and the love he had for his dogs.
He spent many years working for Farmland Foods as well as being employed by three individual farmers. He also worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Atlantic for almost 20 years. Additionally, Carol volunteered for the Lewis Fire Department for 10 years.
Carol is survived by his wife, Joan Jackson of Lewis; his mother, Beulah Heller and step-father, Paul Heller of Carroll; sisters, Jean Carey of Denison, and Peggy Vaughn of Carroll; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Hollis Nordby of Lewis; daughter, Amy Christensen of Atlantic; son, Thomas Jackson of Anita; nine grandchildren, Alan Jackson, Melissa Christensen, Samantha Christensen, Heath Nordby, Burnette Nordby, Scott Jackson, Felicity Jackson and Gavin Clayton; and great-grandson, Damion Baker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Jackson; brothers-in-law, Tom Vaughn, Dick Carey, Raymond Carey Jr. and Archie Fiebelkorn; nephew, Alan Vaughn; cousins-in-law, Butch Fiebelkorn and Vivian Fiebelkorn, and sister-in-law, Judy Sheeley.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Lewis Community Building, Lewis on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. The family invites friends to stay for refreshments and fellowship after the gathering.

Please accept my deepest sympathy. Carol was always so cheerful when he came to the Waukee Coca-Cola Branch. He was always so willing to help in any way possible. My prayers are with you all.
