Paul E. Newman, 88, of Atlantic, formerly of Adair, passed away on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, at the Allen Place in Atlantic.
Paul Eugene Newman was born on Nov. 18, 1936, in Adair, a son of John and Bertha (Guttenfelder) Newman. Paul grew up in the Adair area all his life. He graduated from Adair High School in 1955 and started farming in 1959. At the age of 23, Paul served our country for a few years with the National Guard, where he was honorably discharged. On November 16, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marvalee Eaton. To this union, two children were born: Cindy and Timothy.
Paul had strong faith in him. He was a former member of the St. John Lutheran Church northwest of Adair, the St. John Lutheran Church in Casey, and the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic. At St. John Lutheran, he held numerous board positions and church offices, and participated in several committees and church events. Paul loved woodworking, where he would create anything or fix any project. Following his retirement from farming, Paul and Marvalee moved to Adair for a period, then in 2023, they relocated to Allen Place in Atlantic.
Preceding Paul in his death are his Parents, John and Bertha Newman; Siblings, Raymond (Verna) Newman, Katherine (Harold) Hanusa, Pearl (Raymond) Kahl, Irene Nelson.
Paul is survived by his wife of 66 years Marvalee Newman of Atlantic; his children, Cindy (Thomas) Coleman of Blair, Neb., and Tim Newman, of Adair; his granddaughter, Katelyn Coleman (Wenshi) Zhang of Houston, Texas; and a great-grandchild, Eleanor Zhang of Houston, TX; and his brother Earl (Marilyn) Newman of Adair; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Adair.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, with Rev. Kyle McBee and Rev. Jeffrey Keuning presiding over the service. A luncheon will be held following the funeral in the Fellowship Hall of the Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will take place following the luncheon at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, north west of Adair.
