Mike, Anita, and family: We recently returned from a weeklong trip, and heard about the terrible loss you have gone through. Mike, I have kept you in my prayers for the past few years, and now will keep Andrew and your family in them, too. I never had the chance to meet him, but reading everyone's memories of his short, but loving life reassures me that he is in heaven and watching over all of you. May God's love carry your family through the difficult times ahead and fill your entire family with his Holy Spirit. With Love and Prayers, Mike and Susan Carl (Rodney's partner and your fellow cancer survivor)

Dear Mike and Anita,
My heart goes out to you. It is hard for me to understand why this tragedy happened to two of the nicest people in the world. Anita, I always enjoy being in a Dance Aerobics classes with you. You are always so positive, friendly and upbeat. Mike, I enjoy seeing you out at the pool, when I'm teaching water aerobics. You are both so dedicated to fitness.
Your son, Andrew, sounds like he was a wonderful person. It is a beautiful legacy that his organs will provide life for so many people.
Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I hope I will see you both at the Racquet Club soon.
Your friend, Trish

Dear Anita and Mike:
I have lost touch over the years with your family and am crushed over this news. There is no greater feeling of helplessness than this loss. I wish I could donate the strength your family will need now and always. My heartbreak for your family runs deep. Be brave-and fill his sister's life and yours as much as possible with those precious memories that live on forever. With so much sorrow,
Terry Stephens and family

To Andrew's dear family...My heart goes out to you for your tragic loss. Although I did not have the privilege of knowing you or Andrew, I do know the pain and grief of losing a child. Our 22-year-old son, Zachary, died 3 years ago. From reading comments about Andrew, I'm sure he was much like Zack. We have a wonderful support network in the South Placer Area for bereaved families, and especially for moms and grandmothers. I don't know what I would have done over the past 3 years without these wonderful people. If you would like to know more about our support group, I hope you will contact me. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I am Andrew's grandmother. I feel a great loss since his accident. I know that God had a special purpose for Andrew, which I expressed to many people, especially the last few years. Now Andrew has given more to the world in his short life than anyone could imagine.
Many scripture verses express my thoughts such as no greater love has a man than he lay down his life for a friend. Andrew was known as a very caring person.
Now several people have a new chance to have a normal life, thanks to wonderfully skilled physicians and their helpers, who were able to donate some of Andrew's organs to those in need of them.
I pray that God gives Andrew's family strength to realize what a great gift he still is to everyone, simply by keeping his memory alive.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son. Cookie informed me of his passing. Although I didn't know him, Anita, I know he must have been a very special young man because he was your son. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

We too remember Andrew as a great defensive soccer player. He loved the back field. He was a great kid. Sue's dad received a kidney transplant when he was 62. That kidney saved his life and enabled him to enjoy many activities that he had given up on. Donating organs is one of the most wonderful thing a family can do. Thank you. Mike, Sue, and Matt Hullen

To the family and friends of Andrew. I would occasionally run into Andrew and he would always engage in conversation with me, without knowing me. Being in my mid-fifties, I enjoyed his conversation and humor. He was bright, intelligent, witty and a gentleman. The family of this young man needs to be proud of him and keep his memory alive, not the tragedy that brought him at the end; I will remember his smile and his laughter. I am saddened by his death and really knew nothing about him, about his life, but I do know that he will truly be missed by his family and friends. Be at peace Andrew. I am so very sorry that your life had to end in your young life. I have no doubt, that you would have been successful in your life, and would have brought a good change to this world. Rest in peace and God bless you and your family.

Andrew was a great guy. So much fun with him in Soccer. Derek and Andrew were friends throughout school. He will be greatly missed. I saw him a few months ago and he gave me a hug and called me coach Russ. A great memory. Mike and Anita you are in our thoughts.
