Lenore Yancey Obituary

Lenore (Brugger)
Yancey
Former Folsom and Sacramento Resident
3/17/2009

Lenore Yancey, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on March 17, 2009 at age 91.
She was born and raised in Folsom, the youngest daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Brugger. At the time of her death she resided in a care facility in Escondido, California near her son Paul Yancey. Lenore and her husband, Homer Yancey, spent the bulk of their child rearing years in Sacramento; their two sons Gary and Paul graduated from Sacramento Senior High. During this period she worked many years for the Department of Motor Vehicles. Following Homer's retirement, the couple moved to Grant's Pan, Oregon where they spent many happy years. Homer died in 1990 and Lenore remained in Grant's Pan until the last four years when she returned to Folsom and then Sacramento to be near her family.
Lenore was a strong and caring person. She was a wonderful mother and wife, a surrogate mom to many of her son's friends, and loved by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents and all eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons, Gary and his wife Vicky of Orinda, Calif., and Paul and his wife Patricia of Escondido, Calif.; granddaughter, Lexanne Koenig, Annalee Yancey, and Megan Frazee. As well as great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Steven and Max Koenig, and Zachary Norfleet.
Friends and family are invited to attend a vigil on Tuesday 7 p.m.- 8 p.m., March 24, 2009 at Miller Funeral Home, 507 Scott Street Folsom. A Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Saint John's Catholic Church, 307 Montrose Drive Folsom. There will be a committal service following and a reception after all services at Saint John's Catholic Church. Arrangements handled by Miller Funeral Home.
