Miyoko Doi Obituary

Miyoko Doi
10/5/1919 - 11/6/2006

Born October 5, 1919, Miyoko passed away peacefully on November 6, 2006 at the age of 87 due to complications of congestive heart failure.
She was a resident of Auburn, Calif. for over 59 years that historically closes an era of fruit ranching. During World War II, she was interned at Manzanar Relocation Center in 1943-1945 as a young girl. She loved the outdoors and maintained a vegetable and flower garden. You would always see her outside on any given day gardening. She enjoyed the many family gatherings and especially watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play and grow.
She was preceded in death by husband Sumio Doi; parents Tayemon Yamanaka and Kikuno Yamanaka of Gilroy, Calif.; and sister Saxie Mizota of Santa Clara, Calif.
She leaves behind four brothers, Sam (Lily) Yamanaka of Gilroy, Ken (Connie) Yamanaka of Gilroy, Ben (Helen) Yamanaka of Alameda, Henry (Lee) Yamanaka of Las Vegas, Nev., and sister Dixie (Tak) Ishikawa of Santa Clara, as well as daughters Sharon Doi-Okray (Bob) of Santa Rosa, Christine (Tom) Atteberry of Roseville, Louise Franco of West Sacramento and Cecille (Gregorio) Castellon of Roseville; grandchildren Traci Doi-Okray, Tina (Dave) Prenatt, Andrea (Norman Del Sid) Franco, Justin (Cheryl) Atteberry, Jorge Castellon, Greg Castellon, Breanne S. Hernandez and nine great- grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Newcastle District Cemetery (Gazebo Plaza Area), 850 Taylor Rd., Newcastle, CA.
Chapel of the Valley at 8350 Auburn Blvd, #150, Citrus Heights, CA., are in charge of arrangements.
