Raymond Stafford Obituary

Raymond Ivan
Stafford
10/31/1929 - 7/23/2013

Raymond Ivan Stafford, 83, passed away July 23, 2013 in Roseville, California. He was a devoted family man and a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He will be sorely missed.
Born October 31, 1929 in Sacramento to John Edward Stafford and Hulda Helena Christensen Stafford of Lincoln, he grew up in rural Lincoln, California. He resided in the Fruitvale area of rural Lincoln his entire life, except for time spent serving our country during the Korean War.
Ray retired from McClellen Air Force Base in 1985, after 37 years of service. As a young man, he started out in 1947 as an electrician apprentice, later becoming successively a diesel mechanic, a jet engine mechanic, then for many years a procurement officer and contract negotiator. He was very knowledgeable about many things, and in his spare time, he liked to fix things.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Isis Schade Stafford; his parents and his brothers, John, Gifford and Richard Stafford. He is survived by his three children: Curt Stafford of Carmichael, California, Vanessa Allen of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Kathleen Stafford of Carmichael; granddaughters: Kelsie Riggle, Bekka Allen, and Courtney Stafford; great-granddaughter, Kosima Riggle; nephews, Rick Stafford and Mike Stafford; niece, Cindy Harmon; foster son, Donald Storer; special cousins, including Barbara Stafford Smith of Virginia; and mother-in-law, Katie Schade.
Graveside services were held Monday, July 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Newcastle Cemetery, in Newcastle. The services were officiated by the Rev. Lane Olson of the New Song Community Church of Lincoln.
