Sharon Carrier Obituary

Sharon Lee Carrier
01/26/1933 - 08/28/2012

Born January 26, 1933 in Sacramento, Calif., Sharon was a fifth generation Californian and moved to Roseville in 1941 with her parents, Daniel and Marilyn Fenno, now deceased. She graduated from Roseville High School's class of 1950 where she received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award. Sharon attended Samuel Merritt School of Nursing and graduated with Distinction from Sacramento School of Nursing in 1954.
Sharon's love of nursing began at an early age. Her great-grandfather was a prominent physician-surgeon in Etna, Calif. and her grandfather, Thomas Harrison Howell was the Yreka Hospital Administrator in the early forties. Sharon worked in nursing for over 30 years. Her greatest love was geriatric nursing as Director of Nursing and later worked in her own consulting business to ensure convalescent home compliance with medical regulations.
Sharon married Lee W. Carrier in April 1954 at the First Presbyterian Church in Roseville. Sharon and Lee were married 58 happy years as lovers and best friends. Sharon was a nurturing and lover mother of Marilyn, Daniel, Ann and James; blessed grandmother of ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Sharon had many interests; an avid reader, needle arts, water aerobics, and world-wide travel. She also enjoyed having lunch with her RHS classmate friends every month.
Sharon's soul and spirit passed on at home August 28, 2012 after a brief illness with kidney and lung cancer. She was under the comfort care of Sutter VNA & Hospice and her loving daughters and family. The family is especially grateful for the wonderful care provided by the entire Hospice team. We also thank many friends who have offered prayers and support; and Pastor David George and friends at the Valley Springs Presbyterian Church.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at Cochrane's Chapel of the Roses, 103 Lincoln St., Roseville, Calif. on Tuesday, September 4 at 10 a.m. There will be a private interment at the Etna Cemetery in the ancestral family plot in Etna, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sharon's name to the Salvation Army https://donate.salvationarmyusa.org or the Gathering Inn http://www.thegatheringinn.com/support.htm to aid in the fight against homelessness and hunger.

Though I had never met Sharon face to face, I had always heard very best of things about her from her husband Lee who spoke of her highly and loved her very much. Lee's mother Margaret and my grandfather George were siblings, and we spent far too many hours as distant cousins sharing information on our mutual family tree. I am positive that Sharon will never be forgotten and she will live forever thru her children and grandchildren.
