September 25, 1927 - November 22, 2025
Angelina E. "Angie" Giancola, 98, of Auburn, N.Y., passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, in her home with her family by her side.
Her Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Rd., Auburn, N.Y. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11 am, immediately followed by a Christian Mass at 12:15 pm, with The Reverend Louis Vasile as celebrant. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, 6020 Lake Ave, Auburn, N.Y.
Angelina was born in Oneida, N.Y., to Basil and Clara (Favazza) Origlio on September 25, 1927. She graduated from Oneida High School and went on to earn a degree in Education. She worked as an elementary school teacher at Saint Patrick's in Oneida. Upon getting married to her husband, Samuel, she moved to Auburn in August 1959. She taught 3rd grade at Saint Mary's for 5 years, before moving on to teach 3rd grade at Saint Alphonsus, where she remained in a full or part-time capacity for 15 years. Upon the end of her teaching career, she was a devoted volunteer with the St. Alphonsus Rectory, Rosary Altar, St. Alphonsus Food Pantry, and Mercy Rehab Center. She was also proud of being recognized as a 5-Gallon blood donor.
When she wasn't volunteering, she enjoyed traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
Angelina is survived by her son, Richard, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter, Mary, of Auburn, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Jane (Miner) Origlio; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by Samuel, her husband of 59 years; her parents, Basil and Clara Origlio; siblings, Joseph (Laura) Origlio, Thomas Origlio, Basil (Theresa) Ariglio, Marion (Hank) Artessa, Carmella (Tony) Malone, Benny (Anne) Origlio, Carl "Kelly" Origlio, Mary (John) Cappelletti; and her two fur-grandchildren, Moose and Mia.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the loving caregivers over the years that allowed Angie to remain in the comfort of her home, with special thanks to Megan Hermann and Annette Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, or the St. Alphonsus Food Pantry, 90 Melrose Rd., Auburn, NY 13021.

A gifted teacher who made a difference in many lives and whose life was a model of love, compassion, and kindness. Mrs. Giancola was my third grade teacher at St. Alphonsus. Her death will leave a void in Auburn and in the pews at St. Alphonsus, where she worshipped faithfully for decades.

Prayers and love for Mrs. G. She was my 3rd grade teacher at St. Alphonsus and favorite teacher. My friendship with Rich since 1st grade allowed me to get to know both Ang and Sam. Wonderful people and Mrs. G. will be missed dearly. Rich and Mary, your amazing care for your Mom was inspirational.
