Anne Laida Obituary

AUBURN | Anne Laida, 95, passed away peacefully at Auburn Community Hospital on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. Anne was born in Auburn on Dec. 3, 1916 and resided her entire life in Auburn. After graduating from Auburn Academic School, she worked for Welch Allyn Co. and in later years for General Electric Co. Anne liked to garden, cook, sew, knit, and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Martin Laida; her parents, Paul and Helen Gallow; her brothers, Paul, Andrew, John, and George and by her sister, Mary. Her survivors include her son, David Laida and his wife, Nam Yon; her daughters, Nancy Walsh and her husband, Tom and Doris Lindsay and her husband, Fred; grandchildren, Tom Walsh and his wife, Veronica, John Walsh, Hye Yon Bastian and her husband, Nathan and Hye Lim Yi; her sister-in-law, Betty Baran and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Auburn. Burial will immediately follow the services at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Half Acre Road, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or to a local food bank of your choice.

Dear laida Family, my condolences on the passing of Anne. Your family was a fixture on Burt Ave my entire life. We grew up on 24 Swift Street right up the street from your house, my Mother and Father both worked at GE with Marty. My sympathies to your family.

Nancy, David & Family,

It has been my pleaure to be Ann's next door neighbor for the past 6 years. I will truly miss her and all her knowledge of Burt Ave and Life in general!!! She is at peace and lived a wonderful life of almost 96 years young! Sending my love to all the family.

David, Nancy and Doris: Sorry about your Mom but this is our destiny. When we get up in age we wait for this day and hers came. She had a good life. It would be nice if I live to be 95. She is in peace (which I know she wanted). My prayers and love to you.
