PARIS (AP) - Bernard Loiseau, a celebrated French chef whose Cote D'Or restaurant in a small Burgundy town became a mecca for the world's gourmets, has died as age 52, officials said.
Francois Pesneau, a district spokesman in the eastern city of Dijon, said the death came in unclear circumstances but declined to provide details, saying an investigation was under way.
France-Info radio reported that Loiseau was killed by a gunshot wound. Pesneau would not comment on the report, but confirmed that he died at his home in Saulieu, site of the famed restaurant.
