Clara B. (Covich) Walsh
AUBURN - Clara B. (Covich) Walsh, 97, a lifelong Auburnian, peacefully passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024 surrounded by family.
A graduate of East High School, and Auburn Business School, Clara was the Secretary to former Auburn Mayor Paul Lattimore, Sr. as well as the Gebhardt, Tyron & Lattimore Insurance Company.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Clara was a lifelong parishioner, attending daily mass at Holy Family Church. Clara had volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at Holy Family retiring only six months ago due to health issues.
A former volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was always helping others whenever and wherever possible.
The daughter of Peter and Helen (Elkovitch) Covich, Clara was the widow of Richard Walsh. Surviving are their daughters: Karen (Randy) Hamm, Auburn, Deborah (Robert) Walsh, Auburn; grandchildren: Richard (Toni) Walsh, Rebecca (Robert) Canorro, Randy (Deanna) Hamm, Robert (Lisa) Walsh, Kimberly (James) Murphy, Kevin Hamm, Emily Walsh; eight great-grandchildren: Otto, Riley, Maeve, A.J., Daniel, Adam, Madelyn, and Elizabeth; a brother, Donald Covich, Auburn; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by parents, husband and a brother, Peter Calvin Covich.
On Monday, March 11, 2024 at Holy Family Church, 85 North St., Auburn calling hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend John Gathenya as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be remembered to St. Alphonsus Food Pantry, 90 Melrose Rd., Auburn, NY.
