AURORA - Daniel W. Ryan, 77, of State Route 34B, Aurora, passed away Nov. 20, 2016 at Auburn Community Hospital. Daniel was born in Auburn on Feb. 18, 1939 to the late Edward and Ann Cavanaugh Ryan.
Mr. Ryan was a corrections officer with the NYS Department of Corrections in Auburn for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but first and foremost he was a lover of muscle cars, in particular his 1969 Camaro brought to him from California by his brother and lovingly restored by him, his grandsons and good friends.
Daniel is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 57 years, Joan M. (Sarnicola) Ryan; his daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Signor; his sons, Kelly, Daniel Jr., and Patrick (Cassie) Ryan; grandchildren, Erik and Ryan Signor, Christopher Ryan, Christine (Rob) Stearns, Daniel III, Mathew, and Nicholas Ryan, Charles, Caleb, and Rebecca Ryan; great-grandchildren, Conner and Carter Ryan (Mathew), Sean Ryan (Chris), Mary and Elizabeth Ryan (Charles), and Emma Ryan (Caleb). Daniel is also survived by his brother, Thomas (Anita) Ryan.
Daniel was predeceased by his father, mother, and brother, Edward "Bub" (Marvel) Ryan.
Calling hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 with a service to immediately follow at 2 p.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn.
