David Paradise Obituary

UTICA - Mr. David W. Paradise, 67, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 after a long illness in Heritage Health Care Center, Utica. He was born in Auburn on June 21, 1944, the son of Anthony and Anna Paradise. David was a 1962 graduate of Auburn High School, received his AS degree from Auburn Community College, his BS degree from Oswego State University and his MS degree from Central Michigan. He enjoyed watching sports (especially his New York Giants team), playing golf and gardening. He was an avid reader. He is survived by his two children, Carey and Marc, whom he dearly loved; his brother Donald; his uncle, Donald Paradise; and cousins, Melanie Horne, DeDe Walter, Deborah Dowson, John Dowson and Peggy Luisi. A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, in St. Mary's Church, Clark Street, Auburn. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. I am proud to say that I grew up with Dave. He was one of my best friends, even though he almost killed me on the golf course after hitting a terrible drive. We attended East High School where we enjoyed wonderful times. Several years later we were roommates in graduate school at Central Michigan University. Dave was one of the top graduates in the guidance and counseling program.
I last spoke with Dave on Christmas Eve and although he was seriously ill he still kept his sense of humor and we shared a few laughs. He stood by me though
thick and thin. A true friend indeed. He was a very compassionate, intelligent man who everyone enjoyed being with.
I will miss him greatly. I love you Dave.

Dear Carey and Marc,
There were 5 of us, the cousins of the Dowski siblings. There are now 4. We will miss our cousin David.
I am so lucky to have had David as my cousin, and I remember all the fun times we all shared!! I loved him from as far back as I can remember.I'm so grateful that we reconnected over the past 2 years. I will keep those memories in my heart forever. I send you my most sincere sympathy. I take comfort in knowing David is in a better place now.

Carey & Marc,
Your DAD was a Great Man !! He touched many people and hearts than anyone I know. Always one to help someone, and never a question asked. He enjoyed his "lil club" and his Friends on there visits back home. His porch party for the Y-Field reunion was the biggest stop on everyone's list of things to do. Thanks, Dave for giving me the opportunity to be a friend of yours. The memories will last forever !!!
