Donald Staples Obituary

Christopher Staples SKANEATELES < Donald Christopher Staples, 57, of State Street Road, Skaneateles, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, with his loving wife, Pearl, and family at his side, Chris died at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester following a lengthy illness. Born in Auburn on Jan. 24, 1952, he was the son of the late Donald Edgar Staples and Ada Johndrew Staples of Auburn. He was a graduate of Auburn"s East High School and attended Cayuga Community College. He was a life member of the PGA, prior to owning and operating Skaneateles Greens and Pearl Lakes Country Club. He had previously been a golf pro at Owasco Country Club and Cazenovia Country Club. Most recently, with his wife, Pearl, he owned and operated Crystal Creek Quarter Horse Stables in Skaneateles. Chris enjoyed golfing, he was a devoted husband who enjoyed the collecting of antique Corvettes and training and showing quarter horses. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth "Pearl" Quill Staples, of Skaneateles; his mother, Ada "Rae" Staples, of Auburn; a sister, Susan Staples, of Weedsport; a brother, Jeffrey (Nina) Staples, of Michigan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis (Helen Skurat) Quill, of Cayuga; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Jeremiah (Cindy) Quill, of Cayuga, Louis Ronald (Charlene) Quill, of Auburn, Olena (Walter) Czajkowski, of Mendon, Bartholomew (Candi) Quill, of Cayuga, Timothy (Carol) Quill and Marlene (Peter Davis) Quill, all of Auburn, Daniel (Kathy) Quill, of Cayuga; several nieces and nephews. Chris was predeceased by his father and best friend, Donald Edgar Staples in February of 2008. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 Monday, in St. Mary"s Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph"s Cemetery, Fleming. Friends are invited to call on the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St. Contributions in memory of Mr. Donald Christopher Staples may be made to the charity of one"s choice. We were so sorry to hear about Chris. He was a good friend and customer. Both he and his father were good men and they will be missed. Our sincerest sympathys to his family.

I am so sorry to hear about Chris. I also went all through school with Chris and he was a great guy. I have not seen him since high school but I remember him as a happy person with a smile on his face. My condolences to all of his family.

To the family of Chris...so sorry to read of his passing...way too young! I am a former East High classmate of his brother, Jeff, and had so much respect for his parents at Trinity Church while growing up. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, his family.

I went all through high school with Chris and although we hadn't seen each other since then, I remember him as a very kind, always smiling, caring person. He died on my 57th birthday. My deepest sympathy and prayers to his family.

I am so very sorry to hear about Chris. I was a friend of his from high school and Owasco Country Club. He was an exceptional person and I will cherish my memories of him and the times we had together.
