Dorothy Ann Cimpi

Dorothy Ann (O'Brien) Cimpi, age 91, died peacefully on March 13, 2026, at Glendale Nursing Home with her loving family by her side. Dorothy was born on December 23, 1934, in Auburn, N.Y. and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Keogan) O'Brien.
After high school, Dorothy graduated from St. Joseph's Nursing School in Rochester, NY. Along the way, Dorothy met her beloved late husband, Joseph, and the two were wed on November 26, 1955. She then embarked on her lifelong vocation as a registered nurse, serving the Capital District of New York, and centrally in Clifton Park. Prior to this position, she worked as a school nurse for Shenendehowa Central Schools.
Dorothy was blessed with her gift of nursing from a young age, which she utilized all throughout her life to help others. Everyone looked to her for her nursing talents and expertise, from family and friends to people she did not know. Along with her skills in medicine, Dorothy was a genuinely fun and loving person, with whom many people kept strong relationships. Another passion of Dorothy's was playing bridge in all kinds of leagues, which she excelled in and kept up right until her illness overcame her.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, David (Lori) Cimpi, Ann (Joseph) Yund, Thomas (Cindy) Cimpi, Margaret "Margy" Kasky, and Daniel (Ginger Craig) Cimpi; her adored grandchildren, Joseph (Carly) Cimpi, Anthony Cimpi, David Cimpi, Jr., Michael (Michele Maxwell) Yund, Patrick (Jacqueline) Yund, Joseph (Caroline) Yund, Gregory (Morgan) Yund, Robert (April) Kasky, III, Emily (Raymond Watson) Kasky, Daniel "Johnny" (Jessica) Cimpi, Jr., and Steven (Stephanie) Cimpi; her seven great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; her sisters-in-law, Barbara O'Brien and Carleen O'Brien; and her life-long friends, Kathleen Vetrano and Barbara Avino.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William Cimpi; her brothers, Thomas O'Brien and R. Patrick O'Brien; her sister, Jean O'Brien Bockes; and her life-long friends, Margaret "Peggy" Savage and Mary Ann O'Toole Maywalt.
Dorothy's family would like to thank the staff of the Glendale Nursing Home for their tender care and kindness over the past 11 years.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 9 to 10 a.m., at St. Edward the Confessor Church Chapel, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the sanctuary at 10 a.m.
Interment will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn, N.Y.

Alzheimer's Association, 1003 New Loudon Road, Suite 201, Cohoes, NY 12047.
