Fannie Brooks Obituary

AUBURN | Fannie Mae Brooks, 85, of Auburn, passed away on Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 with her family by her side. Fannie Mae was the daughter of the late Clarence and Equilla Bell Dixon.

She had worked for Allied Dye and Cutting as factory work in Newark, N.J. for many years. In the early 1970s, she became a faithful member of Corner Stone Baptist Church where she was an usher and missionary in East Orange, N.J., until moving up to Auburn in 2008.

She is survived by five sons, Curtis Brooks and his wife, Hanna Belinda, of Americus, Ga., James Earl Brooks and his wife, Brenda, of Syracuse, Nasir Sharieff, of Auburn, Jerrell Brooks, of Auburn, and Mack Richard Brooks, of Newark, N.J.; sisters-in-law, Irene Sutton, of Columbus, Ga., Minnie C. Sibling, of Cuthbert, Ga., and Doris Dixon, of Blakely, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 at Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 in the Corner Stone Baptist Church, 237 N. 18th St., East Orange, N.J., with a home going celebration at 1 p.m. The graveside will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 in Graceland Cemetery in Kenilworth, N.J.
