James Splane Obituary

James Vernon Splane

January 6, 1955 - December 29, 2024

James V. Splane Sr (January 6, 1955- December 29, 2024): 8 days shy of his 70th Birthday, Jim "Pop" returned home following his resilient & courageous battle against cancer.

Jim spent much of his life in Auburn, NY before moving to Marion, SC a few years ago in hopes to enjoy his "golden years." Jim was a well-recognized & highly skilled carpenter of the region. He was employed by David B Lee and Company of Skaneateles, NY for 30 years before retiring in 2019. Prior to his carpentry career, Jim served in the US Marine Corps; fighting for the rights and freedoms of our country for 11 years. Jim could be seen sitting around a campfire with his family while reminiscing about his war memories in the summertime. In the winter, Jim was the infamous mastermind behind the Christmas "Gingerbread House" of Owasco, NY; his & his wife's home of nearly 30 years before selling it to their youngest son, and his wife. Jim mastered the circuitry and was eager to carry out the tradition with a "theme"' each year for his community to enjoy for the season.

Jim leaves behind his beloved wife of 49 years, Robin Splane. Together they shared a lifetime of memories & tribulations. Jim also leaves behind their 3 children: Nicole Splane (Noel Rowland), James Splane Jr (Samantha Mitchell) and Eric Splane (Tori Splane). Grandchildren: Annissia Rowland, Lexie Rowland, Derek Rowland, Callista Splane, and Ellee Splane. His sister Linda (Rick) Carr and brothers: Tom, Michael, Dan (Chris) Splane, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jim was a pillar of strength for his family, always a provider and teacher. He was a strong, resilient, brave, & an honorable family man. He will be so greatly missed by all those that knew him. Upon Jim's wishes, he will be cremated and spread amongst the ocean; the remaining ashes kept with his wife and children.

Please join us for the celebration of his life at the Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles, NY on March 8, 2025 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
