OWASCO | Jeanette Spinelli Howard, 73, of Melrose Road, Owasco, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning in the comfort of her daughter's home and in the loving care of her family by her side.
She was born in Auburn on May 11, 1941, the daughter of the late Rocco and Julia Busce Spinelli and had been a life resident.
Jeanette was a longtime employee for the New York State Thruway. She owned and operated Howard Real Estate and was fortunate enough to see her daughter Lynette Wilson follow in her footsteps. Each one of her children was able to receive a special talent of their mother. Daughter Julie Howard, a very beautiful and gifted voice; son Jeff Howard, an excellent and skilled cook; son Richard, the gift of caregiver to his mother for the past 5 years. One of the best gifts her children gave her was the gift of travel. She was able to visit numerous locations like Myrtle Beach, many trips to Florida which included Disney World. Jeanette worked and lived for her family. She was an amazing, strong woman who was always involved in her children's and grandchildren's lives. Jeanette's sense of humor never waned, even through some of her most painful days she always made you laugh. She would often be heard singing or dancing around the house to the delight of her family and friends. Jeanette will be sadly missed and forever remembered by all who fortunate enough to know this special woman.
She is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 53 years, Richard "Dick" Howard; two sons, Richard Howard, Jeff and special daughter-in-law Tammy Howard; two daughters, Julie Howard, Lynette and special son-in-law John Wilson; five grandchildren, Jessica Enge, Alexis Wilson, Joseph Wilson, Jeffrey Howard Jr. and Julian Howard; two cherished great-grandchildren, Ava and Mason Salmon; a brother, John (Pat) Spinelli; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Vincent (Pat) Spinelli.
Jeanette's Mass of Christian burial will be held this Monday at 11:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
