PORT BYRON | Joan L. Kilmer, 71, of Oakland Road, Port Byron, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, at Auburn Community Hospital.
Joan was born in Auburn on Aug. 31, 1940, the daughter of Herbert and Louise Lucas Hotaling. She worked many years for Smith Corona of Groton. She was a volunteer for Literacy Volunteers of America for many years, helping adults to read and teach English as a second language.
She is survived by her husband, Terry L. Kilmer; daughters, Kelly (Mike) Laird, Pamela Stoneburg-Grzasko; a son, Russell Stoneburg; sisters, Dolores Shufelt, of North Syracuse, Jean Stoneburg, of Spring Lake, and O'Neita (Mal) Covert, of Penn Yan; grandchildren, Erica (Adrian) Burgos, Matthew Driscoll and Michael Laird; many nieces, nephews and good friends.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Herb Hotaling and a son-in-law, Joe Grzasko.
Per Joan's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Audioun Funeral Home LLC, 218 Main St., Port Byron, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to SPCA of the Finger Lakes or the Port Byron Fire Department.
