AUBURN | John Wilcynski, 86, of 140 Murray St., and a former resident of many years of North Fulton Street, Auburn, passed away May 1, 2013 at Mercy Health and Rehabilitation Center.
John had retired from the city of Auburn school district, with more than 30 years at Owasco Elementary School. He was a graduate of SUNY Oswego, Auburn West High, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was the son of Anthony and Anna Namisniak Wilcynski.
Surviving is his wife, Joan Pierson Wilcynski; their children, David and his wife, Theresa Wilcynski, of Auburn, Edward and his wife, Lisa Peone Wilcynski, of Wolcott and Christine and her husband, Dale Brandstetter, of Lincoln Neb.; three grandchildren, Douglas and Kelly Brandstetter, and Judson Van Ben Schouten, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John was predeceased by his twin brother, Paul; brothers, Peter and Joseph; sisters, Julia Nagle and Olga Butera.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the Episcopal Church of SS. Peter and John, with the Rev. Douglass Taylor-Weiss, Rector officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to either the Episcopal Church of SS. Peter and John or the Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY.
