Joseph Mastroianni Obituary

AUBURN - Joseph L. Mastroianni, 73, of 137 Van Anden St., Auburn, passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Community General Hospital in Syracuse after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

He was born in Auburn, the son of the late Luigi and Maria Mastroianni and has been a life resident. Joseph was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was a sergeant in the U. S. Army having served in the Korean conflict. Joseph had been employed for over 34 years as an insurance representative for John Hancock Mutual Life in Auburn, retiring in 1990. For the past 12 years, Joseph was director of the Cayuga County Western Off Track Betting in Auburn.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, the former Joan Lober of Auburn; two sons, Michael and his wife, Cheryl of Buffalo and Jay of Auburn; a sister, Antoinette Colella and her husband, Philip of Auburn; four grandchildren, Joshua, Gian, Michael and Maria; a brother-in-law, Joseph Lober and his wife, Jean of Auburn; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many good friends.

Friends are invited to join the family at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Francis of Assisi Church for Joseph's Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
