MORAVIA - Katherine P. Mead, of Atwood Road, Moravia, passed away following a lengthy illness on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the age of 76.
A lifelong area resident, she was born Aug. 20, 1940, a daughter of the late Carl and Helen Case Potter.
Katherine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed the many years she spent working on the family farm and raising her children. Katherine was a former Cub Scout leader and a member of the Sempronius Fire Auxiliary.
Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Francis Mead; four sons, Ricky Mead, of Tennessee, Michael and John (Holly) Mead, both of Moravia, and David (Tracy) Mead, of Groton; four grandchildren, Matthew Matijas, Austin, Cassandra, and Garrett Mead. Also surviving is her brother, Ron Potter, of Cortland, and two sisters, Rose Wells, of Truxton, and Mary (Ed) Wilcox, of Little York.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Interment will follow in Atwater Cemetery, Homer. The family will receive friends and relatives from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Mead's name may be directed to the Sempronius Fire Department, 2284 Route 41A, Moravia, NY 13118.
